The good thing about these is the mini-monsterboxes - 250oz lots.

Huh? I see AUD$3.43 over spot in Sydney which I can go and pick up (KJC). That's about USD$2.46 premium per ounce. Bullion Money is a few cents per ounce higher.

Apmex are charging about the same over spot for the '16 Roo mini-monster over there.

Any of the other coins (Philharmonics, Britannias, ASEs, Maples) are all far higher premium from local dealers in 500oz monsterboxes.

I would rather buy a $6k mini-monster of Roos each year than a full monsterbox of ASE's every 2 years.

That's nice, but you quoted my mini-mosterbox post and implied a $5+ premium at that quantity. It has shown to be false.

And 'up to 24' means a broken mint tube, so you will pay more regardless.

What is the purpose of buying mini monster boxes of these low premium coins or monster boxes of any coins come to think of it?

Is it not cheaper to just buy silver bars? or do monster box buyers expect the secondary premium to go up once the next year is released?

I have now limited my silver stacking to 10oz bars and 2 each of every new kook koala and ase, I did buy 2 2016 WTE,s to go with my 2014s and 2015s but will stop at the 2016 as I feel the appeal has been lost with desighn change, its just becoming an animal coin collection with never ending new animals!

Just too much clutter for my liking to be stacking too many coin and round types and with monster boxes you wont display or even look at you may as well buy low premium silver bars?

Perhaps silver really is over priced and over rated when PM can sell almost 9m oz,s of one type of silver coin in just 6 months!

Yes I would also (genuinely) like to know what the strategy is with monster boxes or any bulk bullion coin purchase. If 9 million Roos have already been minted then surely there's little collector value to them?

I see it is a nicely produced coin, in a popular and affordable size, from a respected manufacturer - what else is going on?

This product is marketed towards serious bullion buyers in a form which is easily divisible into small portions e.g. a tube. Simply a lump of silver you can sell in a small tube in 1oz lots. A lot of the people who buy these will not even break the ties on the box let alone break the seals on the tubes. I see posts here that say, "This is an ugly coin" or "I would never buy a coin with milk spots". Who cares its just silver! You are missing the point, this coin is not marketed to coin collectors who buy 1, 2 or 10 coins at a time. The fact that it has been so success, particularly overseas, shows that Perth Mint has read the market well.

Most of cheap PM silver coins will become "Milky", I already found them in Crocs, Spids and Kangs. If you got them at spot price, no one will care about "scratches" or "Milky" issue. But if you are buying at 30% or 50% over spot, then it really make a difference.
