Greetings to all Happy to have stumbled on this site. Given the abenomics and QE going nowhere, i ve started stacking this year. Local shops are very expensive compared to overseas shops. Anyone from japan to share tips for buying silver? Tried a few local shops already. Bullions are comparatively expensive. Perthmint seems the best place to buy but there lots of surcharges (shipping , exchange rate spread, credit card payment, customs etc) I would rather find a good local coin shop.
Welcome to the forum. I believe there is a stacker from here that is there right now (andsing56): You could try contacting him. http://forums.silverstackers.com/profile.php?id=11291 And there was an old thread about buying stuff in Japan: http://forums.silverstackers.com/topic-17439-experiences-in-japan-bullion-and-coins.html
Thanks for your warm welcome and silverly precious advices. Never thought about pawn shops. I ve seen many shady shops advertising PM buy back. Btw an outlet of the Japan Mint in tokyo will be exeptionally open coming Saturday, link below. Time to glean at some local coins. All the PM shops I know of are only open weekdays til 5pm. Not convenient for me, a salaryman. http://www.mint.go.jp/buy/mint-shop/coin_mint_shop.html
Ginza, could you help me finding online coin shops in Japan? I know Taisei Coins, but is that the only one?
Hello Clubman, there are quite a lot but it but I havent tried any of them because I favour silver bars & bullions over numismatic. Here are a few I found: http://www.coins.co.jp http://gold-ichiba.com/en http://www.nichiyucoin.com http://ginzacoins.co.jp/http://www.noguchicoin.co.jp; for more type " " in google. Not coins, but this one has the best online purchase rates I know for bars: http://www.net-japan.co.jp Personally I've bought silver from these shops so far: http://www.tohki.net ; http://www.ishifuku.co.jp/ Hello Bullion Baron, My visit at Tanaka was short after they told me that they sold only 30kg silver bars (lots of gold coins, but I'm into silver ..for now)
