Hey Dynoman, I've recently received a tin full of old coins from my grandfathers passing and I'm sure some appear to have what looks like Chinese writing on them. Is there a reference page I can go to to see what they look like? At some point I'm going to have to take the tin somewhere to be appraised as I know nothing about collectable/old coins and their values (though there's no gold in there) however mostly it's pre decimal Australian coins but also a large amount of older coins from various countries, including pre decimal NZ, Fiji, PNG etc. I may start a new thread when I have some spare tim available, but in the meantime does anybody know of a reputable coin dealer in Brisbane that I could trust to have an honest appraisal from? Cheers.
Thanks PA suggest you check out more than one local dealer in your area and of course there's a large amount of on line reference info. on line.
By the time you extricate it which will require heat you'll probably end up with a munted worthless coin. These are a very popular collectible in China. Fat equals lucky even though Yuan Shih Kai wasn't historically well regarded.
