    Welcome to the forum.

If you are excited about learning some information about your interesting medal, then I want to tell you that I fully understand that feeling.

If you don't get the answers you are seeking here (please give enough time for members to respond), then you can also try here: http://china-mint.info/forum/index.php?board=4.0

I am not familiar with the medal you own but then again, I really am only a novice.

Best of luck with getting the medal identified!

I would venture a WAG that this is a souvenir medal commonly sold to Great Wall tourist/visitors.

Hi Nione, First of all welcome to SS, I am also new on the forum.

Your medal depicts this photo below, so it was probably originated on Great Wall, Qinhuangdao at Shanhaiguan Jiaoshan scenic place.
I have some copper plates with same markings " China Tourist Development." they are only replicas from its original mints.
The packaging for me looks suspicious because they are common packaging you can see on the stores at the gate and at the Jiaoshan cableway.
There are few stores in between the gates, the entrance and exits which you can find few copies of medals. They call it Shan-Zhai or imitations.
If it is a replica it cost around 300-450 RMB at Great Wall store price. However if it is authentic with COA the price may fetch almost the price of your reference.

This depict a detail in photo of your medal.

This is the place where some medals and brass/copper plate can find. The first store after entrance gate.

However, it is a beautiful piece, what really matters is the story within.

    I hope it helps,
    JNS

This is the one in ebay which post by you. It is cooper which planned mintage 8,000. Highly possibility the actual mintage is far below 8,000 except the mints hoard it or totally forgot the existence. During early 80s' people in china are damn poor which has no money/coupon to buy this item even it is cooper. Therefore, few of us deduce the mintage is less than 8,000. you hardly come across this in ebay. The most is less than 5 per years for the real one. There are many fake in ebay and available locally in china.

The price has up significantly for this pieces half year ago in china. I see 2 only in ebay now which price is way beyond 1/2 years ago which only cost you below 300. I will not buy it if it is higher than 300.

The brass one as below is more rare which mintage below 800 or even less which mainly for some VIP as gift. You hardly see this in ebay and even in china local market for real stuff. NOt ask me the purchased price I pay for it. This is secret for me.

You are definitely correct on this one andrewlee10 :), thank you and I stand corrected.

"If you fail to reach the great wall you are no heros" I can not stop smiling on this when i see the words because i bought few replica 4 years ago and believing it is authentic.

So this why i called Shanhaiguan because it was on the entrance which should be "Ba Da Ling"

This is another less expansive item which you can more easy to buy it. Please note that there are few varieties in this one. First, without cloud. second, without cloud. third, colour toning different due to few batch in minting by using different colour. Fourth, rim is different. I yet to collect enough pieces to identify majority of the variety.
