Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. I have a macbook pro and a top of the line dell laptop that were both bought at the same time for similar money - and the macbook pro is a much nicer machine in many ways. Oh wait...

To be fair there is some innovation as well.

Look at the display on their iphone 4, it was the highest resolution screen on a smartphone. They also use great IPS panels in their Imacs.

The machine definitely. The operating system has it's advantages as well, but it's not like I hate windows 7 or anything.

Apparently the Macbook Pros have insane battery life, have you found that to be the case?

Well, I generally get about 5-5.5 hours out of my year-old 15" using wi-fi, screen mostly on full brightness, so not amazing. I do tend to push my machines pretty hard though, and it is a good battery life for such a slim machine (which is pretty important when you travel)

Thats pretty good. I would be happy with that.

Lenovo has just announced the T420 which can last up to 30 hours with a secondary battery installed. For a 14" notebook thats incredible!

Wow, that is amazing. That's the thing with apple - they don't try to serve every market segment, so if you're in the segment they target with their products, they'll probably work really well for you. But if your requirements don't fit their mold, you're just out of luck.

    +1

Love my HTC Desire HD but really haven't seen any suitable alternative yet.
Like many I owned the iPhone 3G for ~18 months and when I moved over to Android it really was an awakening. I couldn't believe I'd been stuck on the POS iPhone.

Personally it was the screen on the iphone 4 that sold it for me. It's just far nicer than any other screen that was around when I was looking to buy.

ps: the wifi hotspot thing is in the latest developer betas

Thanks Spannermonkey, I've now downloaded it already.

Seems only to be connected to the US market times and USD.

Anyone know of a Silver AUD price alarm app?

If Perth Mint made one that would be perfect.

When the HTC touch Diamond first came out. I got one of these as it was the latest phone at the time.
I thought the iphone was too big and chunky.
Thought all phones are the same they should work pretty much the same as another phone.
As long as you get a current one.

Let me tell you the HTC Touch Diamond is the biggest piece of S#$t there is.
The most un-userfriendly thing out there.

The phone rings. you go to pick it up and as soon as you touch something it hangs up.
You are on a call and the phone touches your ear and it hangs up.

Not to mention the software is so damn slow and lags so badly.
Dont even bother using the internet. So damn slow too.

Too many other bad things to mention.

I will never get a HTC phone ever again.

Only good thing is... if ever anyone wants to have a snoop around in your phone or wants to borrow it.
It's almost impossible to navigate your way around it and they just give up.

I don't even want to give this phone away as it will frustrate the hell out of next person who owns it.

The new iphone was like a dream... it all worked perfectly. I could actually be productive on it.
Only thing I dont like about the iphone is that too much personal info is needed to make it work.

Credit card info, address, email passwords, GPS location... pretty much nothing is sacred anymore.

Theres your problem, the HTC touch diamond is a horrible phone.

I think if you tried any of the latest HTC phones you would be plesantly suprised. :)
