I have distilled the collective wisdom of the SilverStacker community to come up with the perfect stack. Core stack: Generic 1kg bars Bullion coins: 1oz Libertads Fractional: 1966 round fifties Optional additions: Core stack: 10oz bars Bullion coins: 1oz ASEs Fractional: Misc. pre-decimals Now that is settled, we can get on with solving the problems in the Middle East, converting everyone to Socialist Libertarianism and discussing the latest Pleiadian news from Billy Meier. Thank you.
Just going to barge my way in here. That is not perfect for me Having silver for pure slab weight is not why I enjoy collecting. I enjoy the challenge and risk that goes with purchasing nice looking bullion or proof coins along with sets. They hold a purpose of having physical silver/gold but also can be displayed and enjoyed. Looking at kg bars or the same bullion con would mean is lose interest in the 'sport'.
Of course no problem with semi-numis for those who enjoy collecting while the core stack is locked away in an SDB or underground end-of-the-world cache.
That's just it, you are collecting and not stacking. Stacking is more the 'metal for the money' play. Nothing wrong with collecting at all, it's a perfectly cromulent way to play the precious metals game. Some play both sides. I think Pete list is pretty close to my general play, although I don't like the round fifties as much as many around here.
Three times too much regardless of your alternatives. A stacker should have all fifties, or all 10 oz bars of the same brand, or all kilos, or all 1 ozers of the same. No variations. That's a stack.
1kg Lunar (one only of each) 10oz Bars & Lunars (lots) 1oz Kooks & Pandas (about 15 of each) Don't have a fractionl strategy yet just a bunch Pre-1946 Pre-Decimals. Do you need a fractional strategy? No more numi speculation for me in the stack. If I collect, I collect outside my stack strategy. Semi-numi only as long as premium is low. A 10oz Monkey is only a few bucks more than a 10oz bar. Beats bar hands down. Would love to do 1oz Libertads but can't get any. I'm keeping a very sparse range now.
Pretty crap selection... buying generic silver is currently the best way to loose money ;P Lunars/any except hummers all the way!
Libertads are nice but very very expensive as bullion 1oz, opm 1oz, $1 over spot a piece, can't go wrong.
For sure! during the next global financial crisis when the US$ is destroyed and all fiat monetary systems become worthless, everyone will go back to using 'real'/'hard' money such as old pre dec. If not you can always flog it to preppers.
Perhaps they mean the Canadian Olympic coins. I picked a shit tonne earlier this year for ...................................$20each LOL Really over looked coins and plenty of silver in them
This is the perfect silver to stack.... oh, and these..... 10 kilo's .999 pure silver .
Yes the 1992 masterpieces of silver sets... But when dealers want ~$190 for them I think I'm better stacking $10 coins which can be had for $15 regularly. Less spread there.
