Bought some cotton gloves so I could open a tube and have a look at the coins, they worked ok but when picking up the stack I noticed some of the fibres got stuck between the coins and were pulled off and stuck under the coins due to the weight and me pulling my hand away and was pretty much impossible to remove the fibres without taking the gloves off. I don't think there will be any harm to the silver im hoping, otherwise might have to get my bare hands in there and remove them. What do you think?
What coins are they? If they're bullion you're going overboard. Use the unpowered latex or nitrile ones if you're really concerned.
just bullion but didn't want finger prints and oil on them. I think I might have bought the wrong cotton gloves actually. Just bought some from a hardware store.
Go to a Chemist and pickup a good one. With the fibre use a hair dryer to blow it off. Tips from Chip
I have not used material gloves and would not for that reason (fibers dislodge) and because I suspect material gloves have no grip whatsoever. Besides, sweat and oil from one's hand can penetrate through material gloves I believe. Instead, I use nitrile gloves (powder-free)....they work like a charm and leave no fibers, are not slippery, and keep any oils or sweat from getting on the coin. .
sorry this glove thingy i have only seen by some stacker-fagot*s on youtube. Its only silver bullion. Noone cares. But if you really want to use gloves, use clockmaker-gloves PS: Your little problem i would solve with compressed air.
Gloves are stupid, good for one use, then people usually touch them all over and they get dirty. I only use this: Source:http://www.leuchtturm.com/
I usually try to avoid touching coins if possible. @Golden: I also bought this, but it left red marks on one of the coins.
Surprised to hear it, I have put thousands of coins into capsules with those, never noticed red marks. But the plastic wears out after few hundred coins, so I guess it must go somewhere.
Yeah the cheap cotton gloves will do that. I just clean my hands well and then only handle coins by the rims while placeing them into capsules. The fibers will not hurt the coins though.
