I thought silver clocks without an 'L' would make an interesting conversation piece sitting on the mantle, but they didn't seem to have any. ;) :D

It is very exciting when you start stacking.
Some that had this excitement in 2011 are now very despondent and grumpy, but you are in at a great time.
Worst case scenario is silver goes to zero?
Even in this worst case we are still doing better than those greedy folk that jumped on this train in 2011.
Sorry for the negative above , what i really wanted to say was silver and gold are fantastic if you are smart about it and a little lucky.
It was nice to read about your Alice in Wonderland coins as this gives me the impression you are not just in it for the $$$$$ value.
As long as you keep up this enthusiasm you will find this to be a great way to put away cash and have something REAL for the future.
I really do feel your enthusiasm , i still have it and LOVE IT.

  4. I have a silver clockerel on my mantle but no one wants to talk about it coz it's so small.. :D

    Well done Geordie,
What a fantastic start to stacking. As mentioned in earlier posts you have chosen a pretty good time to enter the market.PMs have a strange effect on the human psyche, sounds like the silver bug has bitten you pretty hard (you might have been warned about spider bites, snake bites and even shark bites prior to landing on our shores,I'll bet that no one warned about the silver bug bite..)they're pretty aggressive in WA. Probably due to the fact there is a mint they can breed from.
Happy stacking but suggest you read some of the many threads on this forum about stacks getting ripped off and houses getting trashed. The thieves know every hiding spot and more.they know exactly where to look first.not trying to put a downer on your first purchase, the excitement is palpable but I agree with all previous , loose lips sink ships..

    Huh?

If you're that worried about coworkers stealing a few ounces of silver, I'd get a new job.

If you're worried about your neighbors stealing, I'd find a new home.

Honestly, there are hundreds of items more valuable. Enjoy your purchase and share your joy with others!

I've seen that clock, and it's fantastic!

People who started stacking in 2011 didn't necessarily start stacking out of greed....it's an unfair mischaracterization.

Whatever time someone started stacking could simply be the time that they got a consciousness they didn't have before. Unfortunately for some or many, they were intentionally misled by permabull rhetoric and lies that could seem at first as legit warnings.

I got in toward the end of 2012 (some time in the Autumn) and I purchased not out of greed but with the mindset that buying silver bullion and related items is a way of protecting myself financially by transferring some of my money that would normally sit in an investment vehicle like mutual funds into something that will protect me in the impending and imminent global currency collapse / world upheaval.

The one's who I'd characterize as greedy are some or many of the permabulls who are smart and knew better than to make those deceitful assertions.

It depends on how much you have....

  9. Anyone who trusts their workmates, or any one else, is extremely naive.
Until you start getting some life experience you are in grave danger of getting reamed.
BTW, burglars always go for low hanging fruit and will take a thousand dollars worth of silver in their pockets or a fifteen hundred dollar ounce of gold and ignore your DVD porn collection, TV and refrigerator every time.

Life experience? Raised 3 kids , all college graduates and am a grandfather, businessman and volunteer 2 weekends a month...

I've always been a trusting person , and am far from naive.

    You do seem paranoid, however.

I think Silver bullitt may have been talking to me and I took it as some friendly advice for someone who had just bought a wad of silver for the first time .. and I appreciate his concern and kindness regardless of whether it is needed or not, and I thank him for it. There are too many people on this earth that don't watch out for others and also many that like to take advantage of others. I certainly agree that if my house was broken into and the silver found it would be a lot easier to take away than the larger, and probably not such valuable, items. I do intend to increase my contents insurance. :)

There is some degree of good advice in there, I'll agree.

I mean, I wouldn't scream "I have silver in my home" to everyone...but, we just see things a bit differently.

  15. With the amount of theft, break ins, threats of armed robbery and violent crime I have experienced in the past, much of it involving people I knew, work colleagues, friends, business associates, etc, I consider what others may call paranoia as a prudent and comprehensive awareness of ones' environment.

I once use to cultivate "friendships," for want of a better word, with customers who I knew to be petty criminals in order to keep up with what was being discussed in the local criminal community.
For a small gratuity I was able to get advance warning of plans that often involved my business and after a quiet word with the people involved in these plans, explaining to them that I was aware and prepared and outlining the potential consequences to them, they tended to pick softer targets.
I found "paranoia" to be a very effective asset protection strategy.

Yeah, raising kids, business experience, all that good stuff is great but not really applicable to what I was talking about.
That's life, but not really life experience in the sense I was talking about.

The truth is, you can bet that virtually every regular posting member here in the SS forum owns some precious metals and so whether someone claims they own pm's or not, no one who has half a brain is being fooled into believing that those who don't announce they have bought pm's has no pm's.

In other words, never mentioning that you own pm's doesn't make you any more safe from people who are dedicated to theft than those who do.

That said, I'm not advocating that anyone should announce at free will specific details about them self that would make it much easier for someone else to victimize them.

Yeah, I mean businessmen are super successful distrusting everyone all of the time. I've had many deals that relied solely on a handshake. Like I said, maybe we live in different worlds. What you are describing is definitely paranoia. But, whatever makes you sleep at night. It's all good. A different opinion, I guess, with life in general. I definitely have a prudent and comprehensive awareness of my environment, and that environment doesn't consist of walking around looking over my shoulder, and worrying about talking about a few silver coins.

I happen to wear nice watches, drive nice cars, and I'm not worried about posting a picture of me and the family are on vacation, in my car, or telling someone the time in the elevator and worrying about them sneaking over my house and stealing my shit. I guess that's why I have insurance. I just don't worry about it. Again, to each their own.

Well said. I'm definitely not condoning giving out your safe combination or the keys to your house. I wouldn't tell anyone specifics of valuables, and to what degree I own what. I buy PMs. Including gold and silver. I own things. I wear things. I spend money. I've never been robbed, and I hope I never will be. I don't trust everyone, but I don't mistrust everyone either

  19. Oh, you think so? How perceptive that you say we live in different worlds yet you then contradict yourself with that arrogant, insulting rant about YOUR reality
Yeah, like I said, no life experience.
You seem to be one of those minority of Americans that Court Jester unfortunately thinks all Americans are like.
Full of shit and with no idea that anything exists outside your fools paradise.
You will very likely be in for a rude awakening one day and be completely unprepared for it and unable to cope with a new reality.
Sure, I ran a business in a disadvantaged area and had many problems
    That's reality for many people.
Despite this, I was successful and actually contributed to the community as well.
