A bit like a reversed 2009 coin but a nice design I think. The silver is a mockup from the gold. http://agaunews.com/2016-somali-elephant-bullion-coin-breaks-cover-at-long-last/ Source:
Very nice. I loved this series. Had a bunch of the 2011 and 2012. But when I saw spots, I got rid of them. They still sold for a great price. Hopefully the solved the problem. But beautiful.
Do you know when this series is supposed to end or is it an ongoing series? Have heard rumours about 2016 being the last one (?)
Really? 2016? I haven't heard. I still have quite a few of the 2012's dragon privy, and many of the early year gilded versions. I think they are a beautiful bullion coin for sure.
This is something I have read but the source wasn't sureso please don't take it as an info. I am asking AgAuNEWS (or anyone else) if by any chance he knows soemthing about it.
Oh, what a fresh design! Moving the sun across the sky and reflect Elephants - the series will live many more years.
wow they tried really hard on that one....haha..wont be buying any of those......seems like im not buying a lot of new coins lately.....
Funny. They exactly alike. Seems like that's happening a lot lately. The 3rd China Panda Expo copied the Macau Panda. Too funny. Why not just stop the series and do something different?
Now that is a silly question. That's what you are paying for...guaranteed staining and spots to make it look like snow is falling from the skies.
Just yesterday, I checked my BU and MS70 versions of this series....all were ok except my 2013 BU ( 4 out of the roll have developed milk spots ) and my 2014 MS70 ( THAT one really pissed me off , it has developed a huge milk spot that covers most of the reverses edge down to about the tops of the lettering. ) Looking at NGC's picture of the coin on their certification verify section, you can anticipate where the milk spot was going to form( Actually the big area by the Dot before the A in African looks to be forming already ) ...there is almost a shadow in the picture where the milk spot is now. NGC pics of the same coin when they graded it in 2014... http://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/index.aspx?CertNumber=3796631-188 Coin now... You can see where the milkspot encompasses almost all of the edge of the coin, extending deeper at the dot right before the A in African....at ELEPH in Elephant...just after the T in Elephant....ends at the 1 in 1 oz. Crappy pics, but you can still see how bad the coverage of the milkspot is...on an 2014 MS70 no less
Really? Just reversed an earlier year? That's just lazy. I really liked this series but I'm done with it now.
Just received information that the new 2016 Elephants will be minted to a higher fineness. .9999 - It actually looks like this on the coin 999.9
