    Hello

As someone who just jumped into the giant ocean that is Precious Medals, I've come to find I really like the pandas.

As someone who doesn't have the money to go after every year for a master set I was wondering if there were any smaller sets by year.
I think I stumbled upon someone saying 2009-2011 was a "mini" set?? Is this true, and are there other "minis" like this?

I apologize for my newness I stumbled through the 37 pages here and didn't find exactly what I was looking for.. Thank you for the help..

I've never heard of any official "mini-sets" before.

My suggestion would be to start with a 2013 and work your way backwards. When I started I made it a goal to acquire a "mini-set" of pandas from the years 2006-2013. I did some research on Panda prices, looked at my budget and then bought on eBay looking for the best prices. I didn't narrow my buying to one specific year at a time. So I wound up with a "mini-set" at the best price. Because my budget was limited and it was my preference I only bought OPM coins and not graded.

I hope this is helpful. I found the challenge a lot of fun and very rewarding.

    Hi Poping,

I agree with Purple in his suggestion.

I also started buying Pandas with the newer release coins. I bought 2012's 2011's 2010's ect and went from easiest and cheapest to harder to find and more expensive.

a few weeks ago I finally got my 2000 Panda, I also recently picked up a 1994 & 1999 Panda. These were pandas that I could only dream of before.

Once you get a grasp of pricing to pay from watching auctions and looking online you will do great things.

You will realize gains with most pandas if you buy at the right price.

Start with some basics and move forward to bigger and better coins.

You can sub-divide the China Panda gold series by the denomination:
    a) Current to 2001 - 1 troy ounce size is denominated 500 Yuan
    b) 2000 to 1983 - 1 troy ounce is denominated 100 Yuan
    c) 1982 - 1 troy ounce is NOT denominated (medallic issue)

China Panda silver series has always and remained 10 Yuan denominated since 1989 (even the proofs from 1983).

Watched a guy on you tube who has the rarest more of a key date type gold panda for every year. Like one year big date is rarer and next the year the smaller date was rarer so he gets that one proof tough one for each year. It's like a key date coin set. I'm with you exactly in my position (3 months into metals) moving towards pandas until lunar 3 maybe in 4 years. Got 13 x silver 2015 and one x 13 & 14. Both 13 & 14 off eBay cheap (like $32 aud) was worried but had them checked real. Want the whole set but some are so expensive.

Could you help Po ping and I on some of best ways o get a handle of pricing? I know how to research eBay and watch what u guys successfully or not sell things at here. But best price guides I can access online doing a good job of values somewhere for us year by year just for non graded Std 1 oz year by year?

    Po_ping have no idea how
Good or bad the price is but found this 82-07 I think 1/25oz proof set selling on apmex for over 3k U.S. It comes in a nice looking wooden box. www.apmex.com/product/23865/2007-China-gold-panda-proof-set-25th-anniv

They have a smaller 1/10 set as well

i looked up apmex and provident maybe not best prices. Seems to be quite premium any panda coins but there are several from the mid to late 80's are considered common and seem similar price to a current year. Only have the 89' 1/20 & 15' 1/10 so far myself

I started only 1 year ago, and loving every minute i can spend with them
Doesent matter if i hold them or searchin the net for new ones.

For what it is worth I can vouch foe David he is an excellent seller with great service and very nice coins ! AND HE IS RIGHT $639 WAS A GREAT PRICE due to low spot prices now is the time to be buying those sets they are low mintage 30.000 I believe and are collectible I bought 2 for my kids about 4 years back and if my memory serves me well i paid 875 a set which was a good price as they where routinely doing 1200..IMHO they will go back to that price

pandas in my experiance are the monst unindependent POS bullion coins
speaking about the younger ones 2008,09,10 did very well since they came to the market
2011,12,13 are doing also very well while POS was falling like a rock
2014 good profits were done in association with the chinease coin exchanges
if anyone is interested in mini sets 2008-2010 i can help. fresh coins out of sheet
