Hi there everyone. What has been your preferred choice of silver bar, coin or round for the year of 2015 ? Have your say and state your reasons...And keep the topic clean and friendly. No vitriolic comments please....Overseas members welcome. For me 2015 has been a challenging year for silver bullion. The scurge of the milk spot on many higher premium coins has changed what I buy and how I stack. Any future bullion releases will be reassessed. Here are my preferred choices for 2015..... The Winner- The stacker bar ( any type ) for design and value for money. Easy to store in safety deposit boxes. And almost impossible to fake. RUNNER UP - The XAG Buffalo Round. A good design The Obverse with ISO ( International Organization for Standardization) code of XAG has been cleverly thought out by the distributor. And I do like that design. The reverse with buffalo is well struck and antique matte finish is appealing. Personally, the buffalo design has expired it's use by date and is reminiscent of the American Buffalo round. Maybe a Australian animal next time ? However, it is good value for money. I don't care if it milk spots. So it ticks both boxes. 3rd PLACE - The Australian 1966 fifty cent round. An Aussie favourite. Impervious to milk spots. and stores well in tubes, and has a great design. Generally sought after due to recognision and ease of resale. But the premium can be pricey at times due to the demand. So be careful not to to overpay, as this is low premium silver and common. These are my personal choices and are in no way intended to promote or influence others personal stacking preferences... CHEERS........
so a 50 round is more important to you for not having milk spots but the 20% copper in it is ok? would you buy a watered down beer? 50's are like buying sausages and calling it meat.
1,ASE,s first coin to present and a lot of fun collecting all of them in a short period. Best value silver bullion coin to start any silver stacker collecting coins. 2, 1990-1999 standard 1oz silver proof kooks with low coa,s. some costing less than re mint bullion kooks??? anyone miss the boat? 3, 2014 and 2015 silver bullion wedge tailed eagles these are a quality bullion coin with quality coin looks. 4, 2008 Koala for demanding such a silly premium and getting it. 5, 2008 kook for demanding such a silly premium and getting it. 6, 1990-1999 square cap kooks, just because they are different Dud of 2015 "The Perth Mint Funnel Web Spider" and I am sure next years dud will be the investment grade PM silver Kanga! Perth Mint should stick to quality in my opinion or ruin their reputation!
Hi there! My choice are: 1 Kg Silver bars, mainly ARGOR-HERAEUS. Reason why: -Manufacturers good reputation. -Internationally recognized manufacturer for over half a century. -LBMA-certified -"999 Fine Silver / Switzerland" imprinted -Relatively low surcharge for 1kg-bars compared to smaller bars/bullion Sometimes I buy smaller Bars (Ounces/50g/100g etc.) if not too high a premium.

1. 10 oz stacker bars - for me SC minted 2. ASE's for same reasons as Fishtaco 3. Britanias now they are 999 Dud. FWS by far
Thanks Fishtaco...Your comments are always appreciated. Your the second person who has put ASE's high in the poll. You say your a newbie, but you come across as being a REAL stacker. You put plenty of thought into what you stack. I like your take on 1990-1999 kooks, and the comment on the Funnel Web. I didn't want highlight what I consider to be the dud of 2015...I sure you know what that was. I liked your take on the new Kanga and that planchets are Canadian and if they are minted there being 9999. Makes know sense having a higher purity coin selling at a lower price unless they are minted at gut bucket cost. That would make a good thread. I'd like to know where ALL these low premium coins are minted including the new Kanga. Wouldn't take long to find out. My feeling is in Asia, and you may be right about Canada with the Kanga. Cheers
Hi SwissSilverstar...Thanks for your comment. The Swiss do make quality products. No doubt this would be a easy bar to resell in Europe with such a good reputation...Cheers
Hi Peter, So far Stacker bars and ASE's are leading the race in the Peoples Choice awards of 2015. And no surprise about the Funnel Web Spider. Perth Mint have a few challenges ahead of them. Thanks
