The difference between now and the GFC, is that now we have bail-in laws to protect the banks. Won't the public be in shock once enacted. "Why weren't we told!"
I'm not a doomsayers, but I run a parallel life to the mainstream world. Just yesterday I called into the supermarket and bought 8 tins of beans and tuna plus 3 litres of bottled water. Meanwhile I'm building up the cash reserves as well. I'm thinking a three month buffer as a minimum requirement. What I have found, is having done this for a few years, I check the use-by dates and eat the food as it becomes due. This has allowed me to fine tune my purchases to what I don't mind eating.
Hmm, I can't help but think that banks will always be bailed out, no matter what (too big to fail). And I'm not surprised if there are some people with lots of (disposable) money waiting for a crisis to occur so they can load up on stocks for damn cheap.
Anyone know if the bail-in laws effect just individual, or companies with cash in the bank as well? Not that I buy into any of this bail-n doomsday talk, but am curious to know if there is any difference.

Everyone will be looting, like almost every disaster you've seen on the news. They'll steal your silver too.
Of course you are correct Will. But these people that claim we will use silver and gold seem to forget the instances of rioting and looting you mention. May be well after the fact when we were in a rebuilding phase silver and gold may have their place , but during or for some time after a great disaster people will just TAKE whatevr they want.
