Every now and then I pick up a copper round or two and it has now grown into a nice little collection quite affordably Hopefully there are others who enjoy collecting copper rounds occasionally. My progress so far: ...... Don't really know much about these, seem to have been around for a number of years: These ones come in various front/back combinations: Big Trivium, 5 ADVP ounces: Other side: Nice detail: Provident: Copper Prospector rounds: Some copper Zombucks: Copper skeleton boobies: A couple of bars too: Teensy ingots: I tried putting some copper Buffs in a plastic bag with a boiled egg. Got some colour but it was splotchy: Thanks for looking!
Ive never seen copper bars before, do some bullion dealers stock them? Are they sold close to spot price?
Had a stack of these little babies years before I joined stackers. Great little bar that went down a treat at a stackers meet awhile back. The ones I kept have aged very gracefully, really nice patina developing. Will post some pics when I venture back up into the attic.

Congrats on deciding to go with air-tites for the copper. Would have done the same. If you want to give any/all of them a "fresh start," might want to consider giving them a quick dip in something like this.. (While wearing a nitrile glove, of course.) Followed up with a distilled-water rinse, then patted with a soft & clean microfiber cloth. Finished with an air-dry, before putting them back in the capsules. Yes, I "baby" some of my (Ag) pieces on a case-by-case basis. But worth it, in my eyes.
Very nice, thanks for all the pictures. I never give copper a second thought, but will start to keep my eye out. Way cheaper to collect some unique pieces.
Those bars are flawless! very nice. Is the clear coat a secret blend or are you able to share what you used?
I can see that collecting copper bar/rounds for fun would be fine. Value wise it is a bit different. Copper is still trading fairly well though prices are steadily declining since 2011. A KG of copper in the market is about AUD 5.50 to 6.00 making an ounce worth around 22-23 cents. I guess you can get copper 1oz rounds for AUD$1.50 upwards meaning that the premium is about $1.75 I would say this is just another way to feed the addiction without spending lots. I also guess that it is not really an investment in the metal.
Copper may have a low price, but I'm sure I saw a Periodic Table once based upon scarcity in the Earth's crust, and copper was rarer than gold. I'll have to try to find it again. I think lead was also marginally scarcer than each of gold and silver.
