Just thought I'd start a thread about home hand pours. I am still learning and I know I could learn heaps more from others here with techniques and howto's. Show off your hand pours here.. After long nights out in the shed, this is what my 1oz Bars are looking like.. Kinda happy with my pours lately. 1oz Ant Refinery .999 loaf straight out the mold untouched. No furnace, just hand MAPP. [imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/16355_20150807_124220.jpg][/imgz]
Nice bar. There is already a thread for this that might help http://forums.silverstackers.com/topic-29973-hand-pours.html
I have bought a few "silverfox refining" home poured bars, high premium but worth it when you see just how much work he puts into these small bars in his home shed! You need to stamp your bars because when you look at the selling price of antique/unusual and unique silver bars 01 will ultimately be the rarest
Need a tumbler and good stamp first.. Then i'll try my luck selling them.. Yes! I am a fan of SR.. Not too sure about his safety extracting indoors like he does But otherwise he puts love and effort into each bar.. Do you have any to show? I'm waiting on mine to arrive..
Have watched all his vids he's pretty dedicated I'm sure the money he makes will go back into making his process easyer for him thus making it cheaper to produce better quality bars. Another channel good to watch is AQUILLA REFINING he's from USA and has a redneck accent that he jokes about in one of his vids He will show you how to produce 999 to 9999 silver at home with ELECTROLYSIS https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4ipu5dystW8
Only have 2 small bars with another on its way, will post pics later. You get a laminated credit card sized coa hand signed for each bar # and a little pouch which is a nice touch.
Thanks will watch over weekend, not game enough to try it myself lol The bars I have bought are pretty good quality but I think its all due to hands on "elbow grease" shaping and polishing after they are poured which in my mind makes them well worth the premium.
Dnt get me wrong there good quality just when I said better quality I meant like stamping and different shapes etc Just curious I think he gets them checked with xrf to see if he's hitting the 99.9 mark not sure though have you checked them yourself with xrf. Cause even though he's participated the silver crystals from the acid and washed then with distilled water you can sill get 99.5-99.9 purity
For the small amount I have I am not really concerned, he uses .999 coins and rounds as well as whats extracted and each bar has an acid test pic shown on each individual stamped bar before its polished out for selling. I might be more concerned if I was buying 10oz and above but I am wiling to take the punt on up to 5oz bars as I am not likely to be stacking them with premiums above the likes of YPS but just the odd few with low consecutive bar no,s.
I'm sure he's pretty dedicated to making sure he's products 99.9 I'm just curious if the crystals he's able to get are reaching the mark cause I'm planning on giving it a go soon would love to chat to the bloke if you have a email contact your willing to share via pm.
I have only dealt with him via ebay im afraid! but given ebay of late keeps giving me 20% discount on silver its been worth while, not sure how it works but I think seller gets free fees+? This discount brings ebay prices back to reality
My latest pours (& repours) 10 ounce silver bars [imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/17223_silver-10toz-1.jpg][/imgz] [imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/17223_silver-10toz-2.jpg][/imgz] [imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/17223_silver-10toz-3.jpg][/imgz] [imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/17223_silver-10toz-4.jpg][/imgz] 3 ounce gold bar [imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/17223_gold-3toz-1.jpg][/imgz] [imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/17223_gold-3toz-2.jpg][/imgz] [imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/17223_gold-3toz-3.jpg][/imgz] All are at least 999 fine. The silver ones have a little crud on the surface that I haven't yet removed. Some time soon I'll get some new/cleaner equipment and refine them again for a hopefully perfect result...
