After starting as a stacker on coins I'm thinking of getting into some bars as well. Gut feeling is 10 oz and settling on just the one brand and accumulate, no collecting different types, sets, dates etc like I got sidetracked into a bit with coins. I was looking at Englehardt , Perth Mint or Southern Cross and particularly liked the look of the latter's minted version. Perth Mint for recognisability and findability also appealed. I'd appreciate any comments or suggestions from anyone more experienced with this side of stacking.

Silver as SC don't make gold bars ;)

Amy of them is a good choice so depends on premiums and personal preference. 100% agree with keeping the stack as simple as possible!

If you're looking at being able to sell without much loss and space. Look at the Kilo silze. I did the same thing coins, and then now just focusing on 10oz and kilo's. The premium is lower on the kilo's and good to mix in with the 10oz. The scottsdales, rcm, rmc, geiger, engelhard, JM bars are all nice, but i don't want to pay the premium anymore.

I'm about to switch to gold for a few months and when I return to silver I think i'm going for 5 and 10 oz bars. I'm in the same boat, I want all matching brand bars. they'll have the same demnsions and I won't get caught up with designs and such. I'm looking at RCM because they are gov. produced but I'm open to other brands. When the time comes I'll make my pick. I'm looking fwd to seeing where you go with it too!

You can't go wrong with Perth Mint's.

I do personally like the Englehards though.

Pamps 10 ozers are the most beautiful but the premiums are huge and you wouldn't be g/teed of getting it back when you sell.

As you are in Sydney, go for a local supplier to avoid postage and insurance. Secondly, establish a relationship that will allow you to sell your stack back in one fell swoop at spot or above.

I have just started to buy 10 oz bars and semi given up on coins and rounds. the only problem is cash flow! If you are addicted to purchasing as soon as a bargain or piece you want comes up then it can get pretty boring unless you have enough funds to buy 10 oz and above bars any time like with rounds and coins.

The new Englehards are easy to store and stack as they are in a box but I like to see the silver in my stash and if you open the box too much the tabs tear,I am sure the cotton glove wearing brigade would not purchase one with even the slightest tear lol Perth Mint bars, chuck them around let your dog chew em and they are still an investment grade silver bar worth no less :)

I started stacking the other way around first with 1 kg bars only for a while, then later 10 ounces and now started to go into 1oz coins. I learned a variety is good.

Hi there, I have quite a few 5 oz and 10 oz bars all different types. Of late the 10 oz stacker bars look the most appealing as they are almost impossible to fake. Make sure you buy all your bars from a reputable source. Golstackers youtube video shows how bars filled with copper fooled a XRF machine. Well worth a watch. Here's a link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89ATeNy3DIo

    Cheers

I have liked the 10oz stacker bars for a long time. They are even better value at the moment.
They used to be $3 - 5 more expensive than the perth mint 10oz bars. Now they are the same price.
Also there are a lot of brands to chose from and they all stack together.
This gives variety as well as giving stability to the stack in your SDB.
Great size too, price wise they are affordable even if you dont have much fiat.
A lot easier to buy a 10oz at a time than a kilo at a time.
I think they are the great all rounder.

The Stacker Bars some how tarnished at amazing rate.
Thinks one of the reason price drops.

Thank you one and all for your thoughts. I've decided on definitely the 10 oz and the SC minted subject to establishing a regular supplier. Watching the best Sydney prices between the PM and SC the difference seems only to be tens of cents and then it came down to personal preference.

    Don't forget the Perth Mint.

Often, Perth have the cheapest silver bars available "except" their postage is expensive. $17.50 per kilo.

With all the fakes about, an official receipt from your chosen bullion dealer is a treasure to behold.

Check Perth, then do the maths for bar price vs delivery.

I've often found that the total price from Perth can be within a few dollars of the dealers on the East Coast.

An official receipt from the Perth Mint, might be a nice sell point in many years to come, especially if some of the local dealers close shop.

    Edit

    Delivery is $17.50 not 17

^^^ also don't forget the cost of their obligatory insurance too. Think it's 1% of the toast value.

Buy from PerthBullion for cheaper PM bars and overall postage.

Good! Wonder if they changed it or I was just being cautious when I first bought from them 4 years ago.
