New Guy Shopping for Bullion in Sydney

    Hi Stackers,

    I've been lurking on the forums a bit recently and I like what I see here so I decided to finally make an account :D

    Just getting started with my own stack. I'm interested in 1oz gold and silver bullion coins from Perth Mint (Kooks, Lunars, Roos etc) and some of the widely recognised internationals (Eagles, Maples, Pandas etc) both for investment and collection purposes. I'm taking a day off work next week to travel into Sydney and visit a few bullion places if anyone has any advice or tips on good (or bad!) places to visit.

    I would say shop around here before paying dealer premiums
    If you know what you want to buy post it on the buy/sell thread

    When i started stacking last year i spent thousands on premiums that i could have saved. I found this site alittle late but am glad that i had found it

    Thanks guys.

    My current thinking is that I don't mind paying a few extra percentage points above spot if I can get some good advice from some reputable dealers (I figure I can learn a lot from them in a day of F2F business). Plus I don't want to have to worry about freight and insurance costs for deliveries just yet either.

    I am *very* sure that once I get up the learning curve a bit and have a handle on what I'm doing I will be doing a lot of my trades on here :)

    My current shopping list (wish list) looks something like this :-

    1oz 2015 Gold Coins (low premium, primarily for longer term investment)
    * Aust Kangaroo
    * Canadian Maple
    * American Eagle
    * American Buffalo
    * Austrian Philharmonic
    * Chinese Panda
    * Krugerrand

    1oz & fractional Gold Coins down to 1/10 (some premium, for collections)
    * Perth Mint Lunars, Series 2

    1oz Silver Coins (some premium, for collections)
    * Kookaburras (still missing 2008, 2004, 1995, 1993, 1991 & 1990)
    * Koalas (all years to 2014)
    * Perth Mint Lunars, Series 2 & 1
    * Anything of quality at a decent price (it's relatively cheap to collect silver series)

    Only interested in uncirculated, mint quality and certificate of authenticity where appropriate.

    Is that specific enough to start with ? :p
