Hello everyone! I'm new to stacking before stumbling across the forums whilst looking to get a couple of sovereigns.

I am an average income earner and have been thinking about buying sovereign for a while now but have not taken any action. My interest in sovereign start with my grandma who got all of her grandkids a gold coin pendant (Victoria Sovereign or Old Liberty Coronet $5) in the 19's. I must admit I do not have vast knowledge on sovereign, just attracted to it sentimentally. I must say reading through the forums has given me the thought of stacking sovereign as gold buillion.

Can someone please advice me if stacking sovereign is the way to go? Also, recommendations of reliable trader in Melbourne are welcome.

Queen Vic sovereigns are still able to be obtained at close to bullion prices. Don't pay the premiums you see on eBay.

When I get back from the Sydney meet up I'll see if I have any nice ones.

    G'day and welcome Pi88y.

I'm a fan of the sovs. They are just the right price to be able to afford a regular purchase.

They were produced in the UK, Indian, Canadian and Australian mints and widely used throughout the colonies and across the middle east. Very recognisable and easily traded.

Sovs are widely available from most coin dealers here and around the world. If you get a nice quality coin it may also have some numismatic value.

As well as the Captian, you can try a few of the CBD stores like Peter Strich, Downies, Australian Coin & Bullion, or W Davis.

KJC have a bit of history on the Aussie sovs http://www.kjc.com.au/preambles/gold_sovereigns.asp

    regards,
