Babymetal. It's a whole sub-genre from the band of the same name.

I agree. I suggest that the USA stop funding them, their oil sales be declared illegal, trade embargo on any country selling them weapons or providing support. They'd last a few weeks at most.

They get most of their weapons when the Iraqi army runs away.
    Why do they run?
Why fight for the American when they destroyed their country, or for a corrupt government, when they only got a job in the army to feed their kids , because there are no other jobs.
Western law doesn't work there, it takes too long and the rich bribe their way out.
    Why risk their lives.
    The government is corrupt.

I don't mind telling you I shed a tear when I saw them smashing those ancient Mesopotamian and greco-Persian statues. Very little has made me so angry in my whole life. This is the historical heritage and cultural treasure of the whole human race including those that have died and the thousands of generations to come. I'm sad when people die but they continue to exist in our memories and as part of a culture that goes on. I take some comfort knowing that those things I really value and are a part of who I am and my culture will go on, whether it's my favorite books or movies or my personal records or great works of art like those statues. It's an act of absolute genocide to destroy the last traces of a society like that, doubly sad when it's all we have of the earliest tentative steps humans took towards civilization. Most Iraqis I've met are very proud of their heritage and Iraqi archeologists and classicists have worked very hard over the last 75 years, through terrible wars and successive revolutions and dictatorships, to put together a completely local academic and museum establishment and a lot of it has been wiped out in a single year. The crazy thing is that Islam doesn't actually command their destruction unless the idols are being worshiped and nobody I've ever heard of was worshiping at those marbles. They destroyed cuneiform tablets! Little bits of clay with line writing on it! It's not even a graven image by their own crazy standards, someone's handwriting from 4000 years ago, such a personal and fragile object, that's survived 40 centuries only to smashed to dust by some idiot who doesn't know enough to appreciate that they should draw strength from their heritage.

The only good thing to come out of this is that the world is finally paying attention to the Kurds, if any people deserves a country of their own it's them. Stable, mostly peaceful (considering the situation they've been living in, amazingly so), they've welcomed in Christians and they want to open up and do business with the west. The only reason they haven't gotten exactly what they want is that everyone is afraid of offending Turkey, although they should be thankful that they have the Kurds as a buffer to ISIS so here's to hoping they feel some debt towards them when things calm down. If they don't like the PKK they should be supporting the Pesh.

    /rant.

Because this is the JOTD forum I suppose I should post something funny. Watch between 27 and 28 minutes for the funny. I wouldn't take much of Max's advice and but he's good to watch, or in this case listen to. Before anyone asks I think Alex Jones belongs in a padded room or on trial for fraud, don't ask me how I found this.

Catching up on this thread..and was going to ask if it was still the JOTD

Perhaps it could be re-named as the Clearing House..for emotians and stuff..and that might be the best use for humour :)

I do identify with you ,phrenzy..when they ransack the temple of our heritage ( as the human species)..they have no cred

    What an interesting world.
