    Hey all,

Not sure if this bitgold thing is gonna take off, but it does seem pretty interesting. I signed up yesterday following a link on this forum and received half a gram of gold in my account. I then referred a few friends via email and once they signed up I have now got 3 grams of gold in my account.....For free! It seems like a crazy business model giving out such a large amount of gold for free, just for people signing up.

apparently the gold is stored in various different Brinks vaults across the world and you can transfer your own holdings to anyone via email if they have a bitgold account. Also you can take delivery of the physical once you have at least 10 grams in your account.

Will they be able to keep this up in the long run? Giving out the free gold that is.

If you wanna sign up for half a gram of FREE gold follow the link below.

    cheers Jimmy

So you're telling me that I can get free gold just by asking people to sign up?

    Hmm....

yes! It sounds like they would be loosing out big time. But I got .5 grams just for creating an account and then another 2.5 grams for signing up 5 friends.

I really wanna get up to 10 grams and cash it out! Lol

Maybe they will charge you a fee to cash out the 10 grams and for insured delivery (probably equivalent to the value of the 10g itself) :p

Yes they do charge a fee, but I doubt it would negate the free gold I'm getting. Also there is the option of cashing out into your bank account or even bitcoin which carries a 1% fee I believe.

As I said, it seems like they would be loosing some money (gold) on this promotion.

It seems to be legit so it doesn't hurt to check it out.

Lol! i know, it does sound to good to be true doesn't it? i definitely wouldn't feel comfortable putting my own hard earned into bitgold at this stage, would much prefer to hold physical.

However the website does seem pretty cool, and having a claim on gold at various Brinks vaults across the world does sound badass :)

    From their website:

Legal Requirement for .9995 (99.95%) Pure Gold
Our Corporate By-Laws require that we must buy or sell assayed and stamped .9995 pure (99.95%) or better bullion-grade gold for the benefit of customers from an approved list of Refiners and Assayers whose gold meet the minimum specification set by the London Bullion Market Association ("LBMA") or New York Mercantile Exchange division Commodity Exchange, Inc. ("COMEX").

No Legal Rights to Customer Gold
Every metric gram, kilogram, or tonne of gold that a customer has acquired through BitGold is owned and allocated to the customer once transactions have settled. BitGold Inc. Customer Agreement and Terms of Service unequivocally state that all customer assets are held by BitGold Inc. as bailee for the benefit of customers. A "bailment" occurs when a person (the "bailor") delivers personal property into the possession of another person (the "bailee") for safekeeping but retains legal title to the property. The bailee (the person who has possession of the goods) holds possession of the property on the understanding that the property will be returned to the bailor (you) once the bailment relationship is terminated according to the bailor's (your) instructions.

    100% Insurance Coverage on Gold
Our Corporate By-Laws require that we maintain adequate insurance coverage on all vaulted gold for the benefit of customers. Currently, this insurance is provided through the London market by The Brink's Company ("BRINKS").

Is this offer still on? Looking at the website it doesn't mention anything on the main page about the free gold for signing up (and the referral system). Is it referral only for the free gold? If so, can someone please PM me their referral link and you'll get another 0.5g from my sign-up?

They reduced the bonus to 0.025g (1.40 USD). Not worth the effort.

I just clicked on the referral link on my account and this is what is written on the page. At this point I can only imagine that the referral bonus Is different for different people, but in my account it says 0.025g.
