Just got my first, now they have a cellophane cover sort of like what they put on things to stop them scratching and my rear cover was semi peeled off. Is it ok to take the front one off or is that part of the "tamper proof"? Thanks
Thanks House. I wasnt sure if the front one was fixed and if I pulled it off the gold might fall out lol, so you answered my question
Be careful, if you open the newer type (black) Certicards, then the text "VOID" will appear around it. Be careful. If I were you, I wouldn't peel anything off. It's not the case with older Certicards, as far as I know...
Well I peeled off the back because it was already coming away and the front had air bubbles so I peeled that off as well ,its the new black type and no "void" txt appeared? urban myth or experience in your case? for me Its just the clear scratch protector plastic stuff you get on many new products these days. I wonder if PM wrote the "void" in lemon juice (secret ink) lol
Normally, this happens (photo I found on the internet): (see "VOID VOID VOID..." all around the "window" through which you could see the bar)
Couldn't find that thread for the reply, good job Felly Fell! FT, which colour Certicard did you get? Haven't yet got the new ones so wasn't aware of the 'void' message. Will reimburse you if I maked a boo boo.
^ Oh, I was bringing the conversation to the falling apart of the Certicard... Oh, that thin film on the top? That thing??? That's like a haircut. Nothing will happen if you take that off. Just don't meddle with the casing.
I disagree... I would trust weight, size, specific gravity and ultrasonic testing over packaging and xrf...
Certicards ship new from the mint with a protective film on the Certicard itself designed to stop it scratching during initial transport. It peels and looks unsightly, and is akin to the protective layer on a new mobile phone screen. After about the first thousand complaints along the lines of "my Certicard is second hand and falling apart, it's a fake, you ripped me off!" etc etc, most dealers now simply rip the covers off and send out the shiny new Certicard without the annoying curly film that generates all of the misdirected complaints. The complaints stop until someone forgets to rip the film off before dispatch, and suddenly people who have never seen it before start wondering if their Certicard is second hand, falling apart, fake etc. Nothing to do with opening the Certicard packaging itself.
I trust a beaten up gold bar from a trusted seller Saves a bunch of space in my safe where space is the real premium
