    Hi Guys

I finally found a dealer who has the 2 Oz Lunar S2 Horses

They are asking for $67 each

Would this be a fair price, too steep or a bargain

Word has it that dealers are getting more stock before the end of the month.

U can get them in the US for 46.72 or 53.41 aud. So I would say it's a little steep...

I think I will go to one of the Sydney meetings, I might find someone that has a few too many laying around (if there is such a thing)

    Wishful thinking!

The 2oz coins are managing quite well and are providing long=term stackers with good profits.

The Mouse, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon and Snake are doing just dandy.

And fwiw, the mintage of just 9,126 2oz Mouse coins makes for a declared mintage that isn't too small or too high.

Page 1of 3 for mintage details.

When most folk are paying ridiculous premiums for the 1oz lunar coins, the 2oz coin is the Beef-cake as is the 5oz. :D

I think I'll be doing just fine down the road with my nearly 150 2 oz horses that I got for about 46.00 a piece. I'm not disappointed.

There is still potentially 9126 collectors of the set, I had also noticed earlier in the year people were buying the 2oz proof mouse which was for sale by itself for 120 euros although now you can double that for the proof which makes it the same price as the BU in Europe. The Bu ox the next rarest still makes 100+ euros, proof if you can get one 140+ euros

Also not all the 2oz lunar buyers are collectors trying to complete sets

Most of the dealers on this forum will have new stock.

If they sell it, will be another matter...some horde for a rainy day.

Some sell old stock, to keep capital turning over example... Gold Stackers with their 1oz dragon coins have been forced to sell.

Hi HF how do you know goldstackers are being forced to sell their 1oz dragons from their old stock? I see Perth Bullion are selling 1oz dragons too. Could they just be selling newly acquired stock from the secondary market?

Have not seen any new stock as yet and only one dealer in Brisbane selling these now for around $70

Looks like this maybe the last of them

Do people generally pay a premium for collecting the lunar pyramid like 1/2, 1,2,5,10 & kilo to sell as a whole? I bought for this for the goat now but not sure if it's worth doing thusly for the monkey

I bought a whole bunch of the 2oz Horse over in Germany a few weeks ago as neither my LCS nor APMEX had any in stock. I paid 40 Euros per, which I felt was a reasonable deal. Also I wanted to pick up some of the 2oz 2006 Libertads that day, but someone beat me to it and had the store already cleaned out before I made it there.

So to answer your question SilverBullet8241, YES, I guess I paid some premium.

SilverBullet8241, well, I already have a full pyramid of the horses yet it is not for sale, it will be a gift to my niece. She loves everything about horses, so I am hoping she will not want to part with this set for paper money anytime soon after I will have it presented to her. But I also really like the horse design so I bought a few extras of each and who knows perhaps there will be a larger premium later. I did feel a little bit uncomfy to spend insane premium on the 1/2 and 1oz horses, but I can't help it, if you want to play u got to pay :D

I personally have a soft spot for the 2 oz lunars. They are such a nice size - big enough to see all the detail in the design without being unwieldy like the 10 oz (and some might say the 5 oz).

I'm collecting full sets of Lunar Series II in both the 1 oz and 2 oz sizes and the 2 oz size so far is definitely proving more of a winner in terms of maintaining its value in the face of falling silver prices. I do have that elusive 2 oz mouse though - it was expensive to be sure but the bigger problem for me was actually FINDING one in the first place. There are a few floating around on E-bay in other countries but sometimes they are less than clear about whether it's the BU variant or the coloured etc...dodgy.
