But on second thoughts it seems the little 5 oz bar is priced almost at junk silver price. A 5oz bar sells for almost exactly the same as does 15 x 50c rounds, around $125. Being Australian and with an already recognised name, wouldn't you guys say these are just as liquid as 15 x 50c coins in an Australian market like in these forums? These could even coincide with round 50's, like each round 50 is $8 in value and a 5oz engelhard is $125 in value. You buy $200 worth of goods, you pay 1 engelhard & 9 x 50's. Together they could become like a real currency on the forums, any transactions here can be made with round 50's and 5oz engelhards, sellers must accept payment or part payment if that's what's offered. On the forums front page we should have a ticker price thing just for round 50's & 5oz engelhards so we can see the exact value as we do trades.
Part of the box's function is to protect the cast bar surface during shipping - I'm sure most people on here are aware of the typical condition of a "new" Perth Mint cast silver bar that are shipping rubbing against each other from the refinery. Means you get a shiny bar, not a scuffed bar. I'm personally looking at some new Engelhard bars here that have traveled from the source of origin outside of Australia, to Australia, and then to the US, and the bars are pristine. Perth Mint bars get scuffed traveling 10km from the Perth refinery to Hay St. There has to be some protection for the product when shipping from a fabricator in bulk to a reselling bullion dealer. It's an incredibly efficient form factor for packing as well. Maybe in future they'll be a bit like a PAMP certificate that most people end up losing or tossing - but in the meantime, it's ideal protection to keep the silver looking new. The box condition really should not be a factor in determining the bar's value. It's a cardboard box for a mass produced bar, not a Foy & Gibson envelope for a centenary florin.
No mintage limit, and range will widen. Looks like they are planning on being back in full production in Australia.
I hate Facebook and aren't on it. Is it possible to please re post the info in your Facebook page here? Or did you already provide a summary? Edit - don't worry I had a look at your link but couldn't see anything about engelhard.
