And which ones are the most desirable to fetch a higher premium? The reason I ask is I have fell into the collector "start to present trap"! I know this is great news for flippers and ebay sellers but its hard for a new collector to judge what is actually overpricing on certain years.
I recently sold a complete collection (up to 2014) to a local collector, and the coin he paid the most for was the 2008. The 1990 and 91 seemed to be a bit higher too if I remember correctly. The 2007 and 2011 seemed to bring the least over spot considering they weren't the last couple years' coins, at least per my transaction. These were unc coins not proofs. Jim
So is there an average price for the others? I know the square caps are a bit more expensive. Seems ebay sellers are asking pretty high premiums on all years regardless so for me its hard to judge the price to pay given there is not that many ways to check selling prices. I have 1990 to 1993 proofs, 1990 to 1994 square caps and 2004 to 2015 round caps so what would be a reasonable price to pay for 1995 -1999 square caps and 2000 to 2003 round caps? Thanks
I think the 2008 always carry a high premium because of the popularity. And if a lot of buyer pay the premium, more likely it will be sold again around there again. So the price is always high (just like Dragon 1 oz). 2004 and 2006 is hard to find it cheap, just because their lower mintage command higher price. Not as high as 2008, but its higher than the rest. Square caps I found the hardest to find is 1999, as some of them were released in round caps (as per evident from the Aust Post packaging). 1990 usually have a really high premium, because it is first in the series. The key is to Kook is to be patient, and just randomly buy the bargain that you see. Later on you can swap with other stackers easily.
2008 hands down and you have some accurate responses here nuff said..... If i was to ad which i will.... 2010 fetches a good premium for a recent coin 2009 aswell Aside from what has already been mentioned i find the 2000 to be a bit pricey
Less than 2000 to 2007, a lot less than 2002 2008 and 2009 and about the same as all the later date kooks after the run has finished. ebay opportunistic sellers on the other hand will have potential buyers believe all years are worth much more than they really are.
So what would be the price of a 2008 1oz Kook if you were buying and if you were selling? I already have one and only buy one of each year but its quite interesting to see ss members premium figures they have in mind. Still good to see none of the kooks have gone stupid prices like the 07 and 08 koala!

My money is on the 1988 being the best premium kook behind the 2008 for Australian buyers in the future.
