    Hello everyone,

It has taken me while to find this site. I'm from the 'sunshine' state in Australia.

I have been delving into the dark side of jewelry making.
Having done so, I have discovered that I may need to make my own findings.

I have been trying to learn everything I can about silver as I am about to start a silver smiths course.

    Thanks for reading :D

Hello again and thank you all for your warm welcomes.

'House' Long story short....I had an accident which has left me with titanium rods and screws etc in my back. (my partner calls the six million dollar woman lol).

Sooooo, I decided to delve into light metals and see if I could produce artistic pieces. I have learned to weld :)

My partner is an artist and has just started working with jewelry, and asked if I could make her a few findings....I jumped at the chance to learn a new skill :D Hence silver smithing.

    Cheers

    Arn

Hi, my wife took up jewelry making a while back, really expensive to get set up and the lessons were around $50 each, a lot of specialist equipment needs to be bought. You might be able to find some online lessons through Craftsy or something similar.

I was interested in making some pieces a while back but was told that I would never be able to produce the volume of work that India could and I would never be able to match the price either. I have been to a couple of enameling and jewelry shows but not much gets sold at them.

However if it keeps you occupied then why not? I wanted to get into the Precious Metal Clays a while back but haven't had the time, there is plenty of variety in silver work so at least you won't get bored.

    Welcome to the site.

Thank you for your welcome FNQsilver :)

I am just getting my feet wet at the moment but, it won't be too much longer until I will be able to design and craft my own material. I certainly will post some pics when I do :D

    Thanks for your welcome :)

It is quite expensive to start silver-smithing. However, there are ways around having to buy all the equipment. Admittedly, you do have to outlay a certain amount on everyday tools. Anyway I'll get there soon enough:D

    Cheers
