    Could these coin rolls get to Coles or Woolies in the mornings before they open?

    Hi All,

    I have some information in regards to the $2 coin that's coming out on Monday.

    1. The news picture is not right
    2. It is TRUE there is a new $2 coin for circulation in colour
    3. I have no idea if i can get any YET as the mint has not said they would make mint rolls, thou this might change and yes i pleaded with them to make some rolls available.

    this is the only new news i have at the moment.

    if i hear anything new i'll let everyone know

    hope this helps

    James

    Thanks for the update James.

    Well based on the information from the Currency Determination here is my "artist's impression" of the new coin (made using powerpoint and paint).

    Can't wait to see the real design very soon.

    Hi All,

    Just want to let everyone know its "EVERY MAN FOR THEMSELVES" on this coin, There will be NO mint rolls Confirmed by the mint. All coins have been deemed for circulation.

    This means be very very friendly with your bank tellers, look for the coin at your local super market as they get the coins from the security companies direct.

    Few things to look out for

    1. Because no mint rolls are made, ANY ROLLS on the market would be classified as SECURITY ROLLS. This means that even thou the ends of the rolls might contain the right coin, it cannot be guaranteed that the complete roll is the correct coin.

    2. Best to get them in bags of 25 where you can at least see the coins

    3. Due to the fact that CIRCULATION coins are known to be distributed unevenly through the Australian States, i would suggest asking relations from other states to look out for these coins as well.

    4. 1.5 million coins distributed throughout Australia. With just 25 million approximately people in Australia, this gives you just 1:16 ratio( which means every 16 people would be able to own 1 coin.

    happy hunting

    hope this helps

    James

    You definitely interpreted the design information well, making sense to use previous issues as inspiration :)

    A design consisting of:
    (a) a central circle containing the inscription 'LEST WE FORGET' and a representation of a dot; and
    (b) surrounding the central circle, the following:
    (i) a series of red coloured stripes arranged in a repetitive circular pattern;
    (ii) 2 concentric circles;
    (iii) 5 stylised representations of crosses;
    (iv) between the crosses, a representation of poppy flowers; and
    (c) 'TWO DOLLARS'.

    its pretty safe to say people have to much money if they pay more than face value for a coin and well its nuts is all and I wont be running around like a mad man looking for red dotted coins I think the word insane comes to mind.

    but good luck to those who hunt :D

    They also had a copy of the May 2015 catalogue at the event today.

    Didn't see this coin for sale or anything but I am sure in the news section near the end it said that the mint is planning to do more "Swap'n'shop" popup stands this year Australia wide.

    If that's true then hopefully it may be easier to acquire some of these coins.
