One wonders where the Mint found more of these 1oz Mouse? Unless someone sold a bunch back to them recently.
They are minting them again. I suspect the market will be flooded with these coins over the next few months. Then they will start on the Ox
Steve, the Ox, tiger and rabbit have reached they're 300k limit so we won't see any more of them I don't think.
Yep - see http://www.perthmintbullion.com/blog/blog/11-02-09/Australian_Lunar_Series_II_Sales_Update.aspx EVERY 1oz gold and silver Lunar Series II is sold out except silver Mouse.
OK, if the Ox has already reached its limited, then it looks like we will only get a mouse plague
I don't believe the Mouse, Ox or Tiger have reached their limit of 300,000 nor do I believe these Mouse coins being sold now are recently minted. IF the Mint was going to start to remint the Mouse, Ox or Tiger they would have announced it. These coins they are now selling I would think have been buy-backs made by the Mint, that is, people have sold their coins to the Mint and the Mint is now selling them. ie. no change in the quantity in existence. As for the 1kg coins, like you'd be going near them! 100,000 1kg Kook, Lunar and Koala 2011's have already been sold - there will be zero numismatic premium on them in years to come.
I could be wrong but I am pretty sure the PM is minting more mice. I just placed an order for 600 of these coins a few hours ago and they still have another 4000 in inventory. It is hearsay but another dealer told me that after this batch is sold out, the minimum wholesale order for 1oz mice is going to be 500ozs.
The Perth Mint is playing the scarcity card. It's a manufactured shortage. Don't think for one minute that a dozen stackers who buy a 1/2 box each of the mouse is going to empty the mouse inventory. The are skinning the flippers before they make their announcements.
This is interesting. I just checked out they're "official" mintage for the Series II Lunars and it states on there they were sold out. http://www.perthmint.com.au//docume...nar_Silver_Bullion_Series_Two_2008_-_2009.pdf Maybe they were keeping some hidden away?
They have sold out of the initial run that they minted in 2008. Now they are minting the rest of the 300,000 mintage
doh , they 're not gonna put it in writing. back in 2009 the market was suddenly flogged with 2007 kookas. one of the former sponsor here can confirm if he reads this thread. expect to see lots mouse in secondary market very soon.
