Not bad, from the quick shots of the actual coin! Design seems a little busy, though. And definitely all set with the price. Pass -- but perhaps with some regret..
I suspect that this coin will do well? Mintage very low, should be amazing in high relief. I have all the Perth Mint 1oz High Reliefs, and didn't buy any 5oz ones due to budget. So I will probably wait for the 1oz version of this.
I'm sure of getting myself one of these coins. Been wanting a 5oz high relief, but wasn't such a big fan of the koala series. And the wedge-tailed eagles are just too expensive right now. I believe this coin will do well.
Singapore dealer have 20 pcs on hand. 8 pcs pre-order. 12 pcs left for coin show. 1 pcs might be mine if the price is okay.
Haven't bought the other one in this series but I have purchased two of the 2015 Tuvalu 5oz piedfort American Bald Eagle coins which have a similar maximal thickness. They are scalloped in appearance and have a really nice feel to them in the hand. I think the photos of this coin on the Perth Mint site are somewhat misleading regarding the dimensions. From the video this coin also appears to be scalloped but I cannot determine if it is to the same degree as the Bald Eagle. By the way , I think that I paid ~$260US for each of my coins, and it seems that the price has neither increased nor decreased. That said, the Bald Eagle had a higher mintage of 1500 as compared to this coin with only 1000. Hard to predict which of the two would have the greater general appeal. Cheers, Luker
