Nice stuff, but NGC really needs to chill out with those holders & scale 'em down to size.

I believe the reason why the oversize slabs is due to the excessive cost of creating new slab sizes for every different type of coin and medal. So one size can fit several different coins and medals...it's fine. The important thing is that they authenticate and grade accurately.

    Understood.

But it looks like they're throwing 5-oz'ers into kilo holders!

Standard, fatty, 5-oz, 10-oz & kilo.. Too much to ask? :)

I think you may be underestimating the variation in thickness of different coins and medals.

Some 5 oz high relief medals may be just as thick as some kilo coins.

The USD being a very strong currency now, it may be a great time to buy Chinese medals from overseas due to the currency conversion. When the dollar gets weaker, your buying power drops with it.

Just saying, the dollar will not reign this strong forever.

I am planning on petitioning today the admins of this site to create a new section specifically for Modern Chinese Coins and Medals.

I've noticed that over the years, reading SilverStacker forum posts from 2011 forward, many members have a specific and perhaps even a growing interest in Chinese medals and coins. For these members, modern Chinese coins and medals may have an important place in their heart and in their collection / stack. Why not give this growing interest by forum members a dedicated space where they can converse and share all things modern Chinese coins and medals. In fact, the SilverStacker forum may draw new members from Asia and different parts of the world because of a section dedicated specifically to this important area of interest.

If anyone wants to join me in contacting the admins to request that a separate section be created for Modern Chinese Coins and Medals, I'd encourage you to do so. Heck, you can be someone who hates Chinese coins and it may toward your own interest to ask the admins to create a dedicated section so that you will see less threads in this section about those Chinese coins and medals. :)

Now, who are the admins to send the message to...Gold Pelican I think is one for sure...who else?

RMB has NOT devalued much vs. US$, maybe around 4-5% ONLY. It is ONLY Euro, AU$ and CA$ devalued a lot vs. US$

    RMB actually Appreciated vs. Euro.

And that 4-5% is good enough reason for me to buy more high quality coins and medals from China! :)

Nah, just not into gold. Not only is it out of my price range, I just like the silver look better. But that's just me, I'm a little nuts.

    Thanks, though. :)
