im sure this has been brought up but cant find it so. apart from all the off topic arguments (all kinds of debates could start up) what is the best 1oz gov. minted coin? I have access to mainly maples(great coin imo) but with inter net can really get any...is there one that has a better track record (getting premium over spot?) and sure I guess I could buy generic rounds and bars...but if price ever gets to say 2500 in my life time...I could see the China "mints" popping those out first. besides the kooks, buffalos and maples, etc. are way funner to fondle
All depends on your exit strategy and when/where u plan to sell. If u plan to sell to the dealer n since ur in canada, gold maples r a very good choice. However, if u want coin that commands premium when u sell, pandas and lunar do very well. Just keep it simple and change buying preference as you learn more about semi-numis gold coins. Fyi, even 1/10 lunars n pandas tends to do well even with higher premium.

I keep hearing pandas but they would have to come from someone reputable/back their product(just cause it comes from china) this should turn into a poll and lll go with best said ....might have to track it down but if its sexy and get my premium back +spot and hope..just hope maybe a few extra crap dollars....more the sex appeal
For extra premium over spot - Australian Lunars - but you need to pay a higher premium upfront. Leave numismatic speculation to silver coins - much better odds - and make your gold buying be about gold.

I bought a 1oz. gold Canadian maple because it had the lowest premium over spot of any of the well recognized gold coins I seen. So since I bought a gold coin, with my luck gold will drop to unheard of lows in the near future.
"BEST" is relative... ...in terms of design/quality of mintage? Maple Leafs are good, so are Buffalos ...in terms of Purity? Maple Leafs, definitely... ...taking account of the numismatic value? Pandas are a good pick, so are Kangaroos, Kookaburras ...in terms of what you like? I'd pick Kangaroos, Baffalos
So I'm gonna stick with good old home brew(maples) They are the cheapest for me. They don't have the best design, but do got some .99999 Or at least .9999 I really like the Australian coins but are the hardest for me to come by. I dont really trust pandas for some gut reason unless they are 1/4oz(in hopes not worth to counterfeit). Like the buffaloes too tho! Most of all the new design of maples makes it move a lil.
2015 silver britannia, in my opinion. Nice looking coin, low premium, not much milkspots, and 999 stamped on it. Dont like philharmonics and ASE because it doesnt have printed 999 on it. Old britannias (before 2013) had about 950+ silver, and iz says "fine silver" on the coin. The same name on phils and ASEs... I like to see 999 printed, for me it is a must on any coin!
Are you saying gold coins have milk spots? I was thinking this was a silver thing not gold, correct me if I'm wrong!
i have maples, krugers, philarmonics, pandas so i dont care which one is the best. diversity is the magic word. btw. i dont care if 0.999 or 0.99999999999 purity and so will also the farmer with the potatoe sacks not care.
vast differences there my friend 999 in gold would not be acceptable even as bullion 99999 on the otherhand is used in analytical processes and costs twice that of bullion 99.99 just sayin
no farmer will care about purity. an ounce is one ounce. but ok if there are enough stupid idiots to pay the premium for extra pure coinage i also would throw it onto the market. just saying
