I have two Holey Dollar coins that were minted by the Canberra mint. One was minted in 1989 and one in 1990. For anyone who is interested, here are the specs of both coins: 1989 Holey Dollar (from http://www.australianstamp.com/Coin-web/aust/bulldec/silver/1989hdol.htm): Obverse: Queen Elizabeth II - Design by Raphael Maklouf. Size: 38.20 mm (diameter) 4.30 mm (thickness). Composition: .999 Fine Silver. Silver Content: 1.00 oz. Mintage: 45,000 - Canberra. Mintmarks: None. 1990 Holey Dollar (from www.australianstamp.com/Coin-web/aust/bulldec/silver/1990hdol.htm) Obverse: Queen Elizabeth II - Design by Raphael Maklouf. Legend: ELIZABETH. II. AUSTRALIA ONE DOLLAR Reverse: Spirit Men & Barramundi - Design by Stuart Devlin. Legend: ONE OUNCE - THE HOLEY DOLLAR - .999 SILVER - 1990 Edge: Plain edge. Weight: 31.935 grams. Size: 38.20 mm (diameter) 4.30 mm (thickness). Composition: .999 Fine Silver. Silver Content: 1.00 oz. Mintage: 30,000 - Canberra. Mintmarks: None. Unfortunately, I do not have the dump coins that are meant to go with these two coins. Can anyone tell me if these two coins have much value as numismatics? Thanks in advance!
I thought that would be the case. And even if I had the dumps it would not be worth as much as a pair that was still in the special presentation wallet they originally came in. Also, $25-30 if I am lucky? Does that mean I may not even get spot for them?
That's good to know! Glad I only paid spot for them. And a quick google search revealed that a 1990 Holey Dollar and Dump in its original presentation wallet can be had for $60. So no real reason to try to get two loose dump coins of the right date.
