I'm just curious to know who buys these giant bars.

And has anyone ever put one up for sale on the forum?

Or are you just "asking for a friend"? ;)

In all seriousness, I think I recall a member or two here who owns/owned one at that size.

I'm building my next house out of those and painting it brick red.

I wish I was stacking at that level :) Imagine buying a couple and trying to carry them home, or to your SDB.

How would you liquidate one though? I guess just sell back to a dealer.

It's awesome but I don't think I'd ever buy one. You get just as low a premium on kilobars and they would be much easier to sell. Given a choice, I'd pick a treasure chest full of round fifty cent pirate-silver any day of the week, even at the (slightly) higher premium.

Doubt anyone will put their hand up, but we sell them on a regular basis.

They almost always go into deep storage so you're unlikely to see them trade in the open on the secondary market.

    Cheers,

just wondering the ounces on these 15kg bars are they simply 15 x 32.15 = 482.25 ounces then plus or minus if slightly over or under 15kg?

They all have their own unique weights since it's very difficult to pour exactly 15kg of liquid metal. There are a few manufacturers who make CNC milled bars, but they're also odd-weight.

These are mainly used for industrial applications (or re-melting into smaller bars) so the exact weight of each piece of metal doesn't matter to the people who buy them.

The ones we see tend to range from 12.5kg to 15.5kg. That variance is quite large, but they trade based on the exact weight of each individual bar. For example, if you order a "15kg" bar from us and the one that arrives is 14.585kg, you'd only end up paying for 14.585kg and we'd credit you for the 0.415kg difference in cash.

    Cheers,

    Joey
