I had a great deal buying a few pandas on eBay. And yes they were genuine from a genuine seller, but I am with the OP who buys 99% of overpriced PMs.
I used to use Auction Sentry Deluxe but the price went sky high. I now use Auction Sniper http://auctionsniper.com/ first 3 snipes free. You do give them the password and username. It means you don't need to have your computer on at the time of the auction, I have been using it since Aug 2012, over 100 snipes and no problems as yet.
I buy lots of stuff off Ebay but NO PM's. For that I prefer F2F. I don't trust my PM's being sent in mail. Don't know why.
What are all these ebay discounts and ebay bucks? i have been buying stuff from ebay since it first started and have never seen free money? is it a USA thing?
Not sure if it is strictly U.S but I get them and thats where I am at. You have to enroll in the Ebay bucks promotion first, then on qualifying purchases you get a certain % back for free. Also sometimes ebay or paypal offer 10% off coupons or gift $20 everyone once in awhile to thier loyal users. Also if you use Ebates you can get an additional % back. So Ebay bucks+Ebates+Credit card cash back makes a good dent in purchase price! I know last year Ebay did a 10% off deal that was exclusive to australia, keep your eyes out and they usually get posted on this forum real fast
This is about common bullion so some posts are aside. My first silver delivery (25 maples 2011) was purchased through ebay, price a tad lower than dealer. That's the sole bullion I bought there. Years later I bought some bullion along another, local, auction site. Then I limited it to dealer. Least hassle. Least concerns. No fee just premium. I had a period wherein I preferred 90% above bullion, and that had to come from auction sites since dealers here don't sell those. But the price to 'win' them became even bigger than bullion and it sucks to know that they then run to dealer to receive more new bullion coins than your old worn coins, so I digged that preference haha.
I've made bullion coin and blob purchases on eBay. I have found better pricing on many bullion products with eBay than what I can get from large dealers, in part thanks to the 4 - 5 X eBay Bucks that I get rewarded with on occasion. .
I see many buying German Silver at above spot so that's the indication of who buys on EBAY since there is no silver in German Silver or about 1% coating.
Don't overlook the fact that some seriously rare silver is sold on ebay. For every 3 people buying German silver, there is a serious collector, dealer, or silver bug buying or selling those items that you rarely ever encounter at a dealer"s shop or a coin show.
I ask myself this EXACT question whenever I happen on there. Ebay is fine for picking up a collection piece. The problem is all the people fishing with bullion, basically throwing up 'buy it now' items are stupid prices because they have nothing to lose and some sucker might come along and bite.
And is anyone sure that real people are actually buying regular bars and coins at the stupid high prices? Shill bidding is rife on ebay and always will be.
