61kg of Smuggled Gold Found

Customs Intelligence officials seized at least 481 gold bars and 144 gold chains weighing 61 kilograms from several toilets and inside a box of a life jacket from the Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka on Monday morning.

The estimate price of the smuggled gold is around Tk 31 lakh.This is the biggest haul of smuggling gold in the history of the Bangladesh.No one, however, was reportedly arrested in this connection, customs sources said. The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department's Director General (DG), Dr Mainul Khan, said that the flight landed at the airport around 08:30am. The customs officials conducted a drive in the flight following information and searched the passengers' luggage and bodies for carrying illegal goods.

At one stage, they raided several toilets and a box of a life jacket in the flight and found a big amount of gold bars and gold chains, the customs DG said. "The gold was found hidden behind some mirror panels of several toilets. We had to unscrew the mirrors from the wall to recover the gold," he said.The plane had flown into Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport via Chittagong from Dubai in the morning, the customs boss said. A case has been filed with the Airport Police Station, he said. Some unscrupulous staff and passengers might have link with the gold smuggling incident. Customs Intelligence Department is investigating the incident, the DG added.

This is exactly what happens when you make something illegal.
These poor buggers probably started out with collecting the odd silver coin here and there.
This is one of the biggest problems with silver collecting.
As i have read here before "www.youtube.com/watch?v=vN8yU8BQBnY\"" silver is a GATEWAY metal.
Many people have started out collecting small amounts of silver only to get tricked by this gateway metal ,and next thing they know silver
does not fulfill their needs anymore and move onto the harder stuff like gold and platinum.
There are going to be some upset people with this big lose of gold.
As with many other things a seizure like this is going to make the prices from the dealers on the street corners go up substantially.
But in all seriousness the India import rules regarding gold is ridiculous.
Especially being it is a major part of their culture.

Edit:Just added the correct source for my little joke.
It was not on here i heard "the gateway metal" but from the above guy on youtube.
If you have not seen him before i STRONGLY recommend viewing his videos.
Just make sure they are his serious ones, and not the ones where he pokes fun at pumpers.

Fellow stackers, I too started with silver. before I knew it the heavier metals got me.
Then came bitcoin, that was a turning point, I saw the lite and I got out of doge.

It has been six months, but seeing the carts, its like ants under the skin..

I hear ya. I was doing fine with some some silver here and there. Then things got a bit out of control.

Eventually, a local pusherstacker (cough SammySilver cough) gave me a "starter" copper coin at meet and before you know it I'm handing over my 1966 round 50s to him for my copper fix and begging BiGs for a tube of the good stuff.

More gold found!

A locker-cleaning session at an Indian school has uncovered a stash of gold bars and stacks of cash, it's reported.

Employees came across the riches when they were wiping down dirty lockers at the school in the western city of Ahmedabad as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Clean India" campaign, The Hindu website reports. They discovered five apparently unused lockers in the staff room for which no keys could be found, so staff broke into them. Inside was the unexpected sight of 10m rupees in cash ($160,000; 108,000) in one locker, and more than 2kg (4.4lb) of gold bars in another. According to police, the solid gold is worth nearly 6m rupees.

The school doesn't have a record of who used the lockers and nobody has come forward to claim the contents, according to the NDTV website. The headteacher says the lockers haven't been assigned to anyone during the two years he has been there, and local police are equally flummoxed. "We have questioned many staff members and teachers, but we have been so far unable to trace the person who put those bags into these lockers," says one officer, KK Desai.
