Do we really need such enormous boxes for 1 and 2 oz coins? Surely the mints can think up a more compact option for packaging collector coins.

It's like there's a race to produce bigger and more elaborate packaging and presentation boxes.

    It's ridiculous. fuck!

Here's the packaging for 4 coins, a total of 8 ounces of silver:

This is BS. I'm going to skip anything with a box that is substantially larger than the coin from now on.

And here's the packaging for three 1/2 ounce coins. Come on!

At least they come with a box!!!
Recently purchased some proofs direct from the mint/manufacturer - arrived just the coin in the capsule with a loose COA, NO case/box!!

    I agree.

They should make the packaging smaller than the coins and stop wasting space.

I m with you Pete...no more big boxes. Stupid. I think the size of the batman package is perfect. Anything more is ridiculous.

Did you really say that you thought that the size of batman's package was perfect?

Well, maybe poor choice of words. But certainly the best I've seen to date based on what I've ordered: Avenger, Batman, Spiderman, etc...It is the most compact and smallest.

Totally right. And then you tend to take the coin out and secrete is somewhere where the box won't go (shut up caput), an then later have to match up with the right box that you've thrown in a jumble of others in the wardrobe, and then some anal coin collector won't buy because the coin's perfect but the box got a dog ear

send the message by not buying.. i have been free from boxed-coin purchases for 3 years.. feels great i must say.. and i can actually secure them in my SDB..

Agree - boxing is a cheap substitute for PM's and people think its extra value.. too much money and not enough cents

Yeah, that's my policy going forward. Now I'm going to clear out anything with overly large packaging and free up some space.

I agree, a little snap shut box that also houses the COA is perfect. Just a few cm either side of the capsule is all the blank space needed.

The boxes size of the Ram Crux is ideal.
I guess they charge the space by cubic.

I admit this particular box still looks good, but in this case they seem to have put some real effort into it:

A few of those would make a rather lovely bunch of coconuts.
