Ha :) Yeah that's true, I'd still only bury something if it was dead.

I've put token time capsules in the walls of the houses that I have renovated. Both houses had plaster that was from circa 1920 and i've found some interesting things when it was removed.
So i vote that burying PM's is not selfish but merely keeping aliove the dream of finding treasure - just as long as it is the landholder not the plumber contracted to do some work while the owner is out.

Humphrey Bogart got up to a fair bit of mischief when he was younger.

Well if you trust your kids/husband/wife whoever you can tell them where it is or you can leave a note in your will etc.

Interesting, seems H2S is indeed one of the culrpits. However from what I've read a dessicant will still slow the process down.

Some further googling on hydrogen sulfide & silver tarnishing however leads me to 'Anti-tarnish strips', like these:
    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Anti-Tarnish...554?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item19bb062932

These absorb chemicals in the air like H2S and S2O. Used in conjunction with moisture and o2 absorber and there ain't much left to affect the silver!

I dont worry about tarnish at all.

Once youve been into silver for a while its a non issue.

It proves that the piece is silver.

    Toning can be nice.

Its very easy to clean if you really want later anyway.

How smart is the human race. I'm constantly impressed. As Ian Dury said:

" There ain't half been some clever bastards.
    Now that we've had some,
let's hope that there's lots more to come.
There ain't half been some clever bastards
    (Lucky bleeders, lucky bleeders)
There ain't half been some clever bas-tards.
    Okey-dokey!
    Oh!
    Segovia.
    Da-laa la-laa da-daa da-lee "

    Funky stuff.
I'll be on the look out for bogans and other seedy types with lego/meccano sets wandering round our suburb at nite.

Anyone else creeped out by the "uncanny valley" aspect of the original video?

Do perth mint bars or pamp bars come sealed? Say the 1kg or 100oz bars?
and if so as long as you can resist opening them, do they protect from tarnishing?

lastly, what are your opinions re tarnishing in relation to value.

Kjc have told me they will buy back even if tarnished with no loss of value. I'm thinking one could have issues if selling privately though.
