I've mostly avoided fractional silver up until now as I've tried to put on weight before anything else. That and I never really thought I'd be using them to barter with in a mad max style apocalyptic post collapse australia. That being said I figure a little diversification can't hurt and I'm always wanting to give people a little silver but a ounce here and there adds up.

I figured I would seek a little advice rather than just seeing what's cheapest on perth bullion. Is there anything to know apart from price? I'm thinking quarter oz would be different enough from the full oz rounds I have plenty of.

What's your favorite fractional? Why is it your favorite and where is it cheapest?

It work out cheaper to get a full oz. Keep the change or give me twice the amount of goods
when comes to barter trades. ;)

Pre decimal silver coins. I purchased most of mine below spot, but this is now difficult.

Doesn't help you but junk silver coins is the cheapest way I've found in the U.S. Jm Bullion sells fractionals 1/10 oz fractionals at a decent price as well.

I don't know what the premium is, but you might want to consider 1kg Kilo Bag of Mixed Pre 1946 (92.5% Pure) Australian Silver Coins (ASW=0.925kg) from http://www.sterlingcurrency.com.au/

    For AUD$750.00 you get:

    50 x Florins
    100 x Shillings
    200 x Sixpence
    400 x Threepence

The 1/4 and 1/10 incuse Indians are nice and priced reasonably at goldstackers.

Have a bunch of these - Scottsdale stuff is great. 1/2 Oz Takus and Libertads are a good option, as well as 1/4 and 1/2 Noah's Arks.
