    Hi,

I came across this on eBay moments ago and it feels too weird and at 88 $ it's suspicious. But I don't think the seller is stupid, the coin might be a "replica" to say it softly (not to use the "f-word": FAKE).

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Perfect-201...2873138?pt=US_World_Coins&hash=item35df7e7432

Seller says "silver" in the title and "alloy with silver" in the description!

My wild guess: hollow steel plated with silver?

On the coin, one reads .999 (but the writing is weird).

Some pics of the coin on sale:

This is another 1 kg Panda coin from another source - notice the differences (details on the coin) and the different writing stating "1 KG Ag .999":

They might as well be fakes both!

Since it is a Panda and thus China.
What if it is a US legal tender counterfeit, say a box containing 2,000 pcs of replica paper currency US$100, anyone can do anything about it?

Aliexpress do sell alloy America Eagle (legal tender?)

Ebay cannot ban them since it clearly stated it is silver plated.

Not like the Mongolia coins in ebay no one dare to rove is real or fake.

Many members was claiming it is fake in this forum. Who really buy them and prove it? Anyone ?

yeah, but it is deceptive. I appreciate you defending the likes of the criminals at that company, but when they use the exact details of a govt issued coin, I have a hard time believing that this isn't a criminal offense.

    What say you Ron Currie?

It is deceptive and partly dishonest (because it states it is a coin - I'm assuming it does not have an officially authorized denomination " 1000 " and if true it does not have legal tender status...though legal tender status may be different in the U.S. than it is in China). If it is legal and not prohibited by ebay to sell such a product (which are two different things), then the onus is on the buyer to beware and be informed.

Report it for being a counterfeit. Yes ebay can and should take these down as they are not genuine made by the Mint.

You can't make a Rolex watch, says it's not the real thing but still sell it can you?

This seller been there for long and not get ban in eBay. The must be reason.

To cheap to be true for real kg silver coin at that price.

Greediness is the key for you to step in.

In fact I do not like this dishonest way of doing businesses. However it is a matter of life.

I strongly believe ethical businesses are good business and sustainable. However, many cheater and liar on the strait and using same tatics for century. Those common tatics had been movie and show on TV programs but people still get into the trap.

If a guy stab a man and run off with his sling bag, there are people who will suddenly become blind/deaf and see/hear nothing. Some even play dead. Still, they are better than others who move aside, or even direct the criminal to safety. eBay is such a company that turns a blind eye and make it almost impossible for onlookers to do anything.

If I put up a carton of fake us$ (or rmb) for sale here, I am sure my post will be taken down and even be banned. (Probably police will come knocking on my door too).

At eBay, I think I can get away with some profit. Maybe greed is right, but greed by eBay to ignore wrong doing and focus on collecting fees. And eBay is going to be listed.

End of the story EBay is still big and rich online shopping platform.

Do not like it not to buy. Everyone got choice. Buy it at your own risk. Face the consequence of your choice since you know it or do not know it if you cannot do anythings to the seller or EBay. Accept the fact that realistic is Cruel and eBay is still exist for establish till now.

Same like alibaba so many fake things but they are listed recently and so successful. Consumer always had choices. Some hate it but some like it. Otherwise alibaba and eBay will not success for so long even they are fake stuff selling at their platform.

    Any use of complaining ?

If a real seller really sell the real stuff at lower market price on eBay due to need the money for somethings. You hunt it down but you might suspect is fake because some many bad news around the market. Will this consider killing the seller chance and potential buyers chance if getting it a bargain price ? No right or wrong. Take your own risk.

    Some customers are adventurous.

I remember a member here complaint one reputable seller sell fake coin to him and the thread still continue till now. Case yet to resolve and no police knock on the door lol. Both might have own stories resolve is the key to settle down things. This might be the reason of eBay set up resolution centre. Ebay and alibaba have lawyer team which are expert in term of criminal and commercial law than us. A big corporation always equip themselves. anyone can boycot eBay and not use them anymore but some other still use it. Nothing's much can be done.

You are right, but what amused me this week Alibaba was complaining about someone faking some of their software, I forget the exact details but it was in the US.I think Alibaba have a cheek complaining about fake anything as they are the biggest sellers of fakes/crap on the planet.

    WTF LOL!

Maybe someone should clone the entire Alibaba website, but only allow the selling of genuine items. Realistically it would be shutdown by Western governments faster than you could blink because Alibaba had a $25 billion dollar IPO.
