I think the big thing/muscle on the neck...kinda looks strange, turned folks off from this coin. IMHO.
I wanted to start a set of this but the price made it to risky for me. Very beautiful series though, and the artist is quite talented thats for sure.
I'm already into two high-risk/reward gambles that I'm waiting patiently to see results on. I don't have the pellets to dive into another one yet, although if things were different I'd love one of these. Is this, like you said, a series? I wasn't able to find any information on that. The product description doesn't suggest that it is. If it was I'd be even more interested.
I have heard some people say this in the past. I have to agree the picture the mint chose to circulate was unfortunate. The fact is, that area of 'muscle' is not pronounced as suggested by the picture that was circulated. The actual coin is quite beautiful and the neck looks normal. Here's mine; Yes, this is the third in the Cook Islands Mother of Pearl series. Dragon, then snake and now horse.
Not sure if it would be considered a series, but there are several others of this mother of pearl coins that look similar. All very expensive. One is a zeppelin and another is the Nautilus from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
It is indeed a series. Mother of pearl is used in others also but this is specifically the mother of pearl 5oz lunar series.
Actually the new 2015 Mother of Pearl Goat looks much nicer in hand as the horse The details are much better done
Tempted to buy when look at the photo. But decide not to go after seeing the real coin. I feel overpriced
I just received my Mother of Pearl GOAT and design is very beautiful. Not a cheap series but all previous coins sold out, price on the market is high and stable, and first coins in this series are selling for $1000.00+ today Also, it is made by 5 Oz silver and a mother of pearl inster, that makes each coin unique. Alex.
I'm not sure if it's even possible to make the comparison but there aren't many Lunar coins that can beat the Perth series--this one might do it. Again, this might be an apples to oranges comparison but it says a lot for the beauty here.
