Hi Guys, I'm wanting to purchase headphones for my x-terra 705 and not sure what a good option would be around the price of say $100. I'm mainly detecting for coins in parks, beaches ect. I'm leaning towards the Koss UR-30 Headphones Minelab, not for any particular reason besides the brand name. SAbogan and Eureka what do you use?b
I,m not those guys but I just use the RPG set that I got free with my xterra. They are probably cheapo but they do the trick. I actually haven't been detecting for a while so thanks for reminding me that I actually own a metal detector.
koss ur-30 are good but I suggest shopping around also. Several peoole I know have tried noise cancelling headphones from aldi...rrp around $40. I also have a 6mm plug adapter for using earpiece (iphone type) headphones which are good in hot weather.
Koss are crap, I would have been through 5 sets over the years, I got my new headphones from this outfit in the UK and they have been great, volume control, volume cut off, comfortable and with two leads. http://www.chefphones.com/#!chefphones/chkn
I agree koss are crap , I use these https://www.reedsprospecting.com.au/shop/detail/sunray-pro-gold-headphones/ but was looking at chefs when the golds cark it.
Thanks for everyone's input, i will probably steer away from Koss now. bja, which model did you chose from chef?
Cant see why not, mine stay with the detector though. They use a set of safety headphones as a base that they put the speakers into. This makes them very tough but probably not suited to the lounge room. Check with them to make sure the headphone jack will fit in an xterra, from memory it does but I would check anyway.
The chefphones looked great, ordered a pair for my etrac but they never arrived in South Africa. Very poor communications from Danny at Chefphones. After sending about 10 emails, eventually got a reply that he never sent them off with a tracking number so it could not be traced, he then promised to send off a second pair with a tracking number. No tracking number ever received and no headphones ever arrived. After numerous emails trying to get the tracking number for that second pair, I was just ignored. Whole process took too long so could not get refund from Paypal. Don't recommend chefphones at all for international orders!
Thanks for the feedback hope they show up for you. get a pair of pro golds , ralph is a good guy at sunray and john the guy who makes them has spare parts for all of the parts of the phones if needed. they work great but like everything don't last forever so its good there is spare parts available.
I just recently sold my Etrac - now using the Fisher CZ21 as I am mostly at the beach and wanted fully waterproof. It just found me my first gold ring
well done on the ring how is the CZ handling the salt? maybe try grey ghosts think they make water proofs like made by detector pro.
The CZ21 handles saltwater no problem but of course need to dial down the sensitivity. Headphones are not replaceable on CZ21. If you interested you can read my full review of the CZ21 on my blog here: http://treasurehunters.co.za/?p=229
After months of waiting, my headphones finally arrived from the UK to South Africa (took only 6 months!), I no longer even own the E-trac as I since got the Fisher CZ21 and cannot use these headphones, so will try and sell them locally to recover costs. Still not impressed with chefphones lack of communication, but the headphones do look good.
