First up, I'm sorry if this is in the wrong forum or is not allowed, but I just have a quick question for any UK stackers out there.

I'm very new to this but I am looking to invest considerably in silver. My problem is that in the UK I have to pay 20% VAT on all orders. As a coin collector as well, I quite like the idea of small orders (around 10) of several different coins, and my options are limited on that front unless i'm willing to pay 20 over spot.

Apmex seems to be perfect for me, and even with the 30 shipping I think that it will still be worth it, but my concerns are that I might be hit with a 20% tax once it comes into the country, countering any saving I make. This has happened before, a long time ago with shipments from the US (not silver and not for VAT). So, my question is for anyone out there from the UK who has shopped through here. Did the package arrive okay, did you receive any further bills?

    Thanks in advance.
    SH

SH, I mostly get mine from Germany..Coins are cheaper than the uk and the tax on most coins is less than we pay in the UK and with Germany being in the E.U no import charges to pay.

    Hi Hobwell,

    Thanks for the reply.

I have looked at Germany as an option, but have yet to find a site in English. Maybe i'm just not looking hard enough (unfortunately I've only been able devote an hour or two to this in the last few days). There is also a seemingly large site that operates out of Estonia with the .eu domain extension, but I can't seem to verify whether they're legit or not and the delivery options are overly complicated from what I can see.

Are you able to send me a link to a site you use in Germany? I believe they still have VAT over there, but only 7%, which would certainly help to cut the costs on big orders.

    Thanks,
    SH

If you buy from EU - no import duty.

Buy from Apmex and get hit with import duty + a courier handling fee.

Best place is silver to go
