Libertad and Aztec

    Hi guys,

    Need your opinion. Finally found a silver kilo Aztec - 2012 and can get it for $1450 AUD, however, it has no box. Limited mintage of 1500 though.

    Moreover, from another dealer found a 5 coin silver libertad proof set 2014 for $330.

    I don't have either, but also not to fussed if i don't get them as well.

    Do you think these are good deals?

    I've always wanted a kilo Aztec! It's one of my wish list coins if ever I see one for sale. I don't know what is a good price here in Australia though since I've never seen one for sale.

    Depends if you plan on reselling the Aztec. As long as it has the wooden display case you should be fine. Lost the box for mine a long time ago. If I find it, it's all yours ;)

    An admirer bought it for me but think she got it from perthbullion. Had a quick look but doesn't seen to be in stock atm. Call them, they may be able to source one for you

    Get the kilo, they are very nice! The box shouldn't be a big deal if it is missing.

    box would be a big deal for me.it is just like the coa for some people for the pamp kg silver bar :p

    $1450 is the current full market price but imo its expensive. i think there is a dealer here on the forum from germany who has/had one for sale

    i might be able to dig up his name if u really want it

    Can get it from the MDMA guy. His prices are better than apmex and elsewhere.

    Noticed that Apmex had the new Aztec kilos in stock and looked at ebay sales. Older years were selling for similar to new issue price. That was all I needed to see to kill my interest. Nice coin, but I am not into high premium coins that don't show a history of premium appreciation.

    Cheapest place for the 5 coin set right now is actually GovMint - looks like they have a little under 100 in stock and priced at $179 USD.

    Hmm, that's abit weird cos I emailed him on SS and that's the website he provided. Stranger than fiction!

    Anyway, got quoted 870 euros for the 2014 kilo libertad proof-like with shipping/insurance.

    This comes up to around 1100 USD, which I think isn't that bad. Any other places that are cheaper than this?

    Actually, the discussion was regarding the kilo Aztec, not Libertad. That's not to say that the kilo PL Libertad isn't at least equally an awesome coin...just that the OP was referring to an Aztec kilo.

    Oh yeah. Forgot to also mention he carries the kilo Aztec as well. Can drop him an email to ask how much it costs too.

    I would buy either coin just cos they're pretty but I doubt either one will appreciate in the short term.

    The felloa who got me into stacking in the first place is under the impression that Libertad's will be gaining popularity over the upcoming years. When he first told me that he was buying Libertad's (I was a newbie), I wondered to myself at the time, why he was wasting money on Mexico coins when there are so many American Eagles he could be buying instead. Since then, I have changed my perspective and I now believe Libertad's are a very good buy if you plan to hold your Libs for a number of years.
