Hey all, my partner has a ring which came with a certificate that has been misplaced and have no idea of current value. As far as I know it is a silver ring with 1.5ct diamonds. Is it possible someone on this forum can value it for me and possibly even reissue a certificate with diamond grade etc?

    Thanks in advance.
    Roscoe.

It would not be silver if it has 1.5ct of diamonds, most likely White Gold

If you can get it to me in the Melbourne CBD I can get valuations for about $50

Yep Spanner, you are right. It is white gold, not silver.

It is a Micheal Hill Engagement ring. White Gold and 1.45ct diamonds. There is one for sale on ebay for $4999 with an original retail value of $8999. Does this sound right Spanner?
Here are a few quick pics. Excuse the poor photography

if it is mh the diamonds will be fair to poor at best. usually j colour SI2 is all i see in their stock.

if you are offered 5k just jump at it. you will be lucky to get 1k. sorry about that.

    jmho.

My rule of thumb is that they work on a 300% markup, so I divide the original retail price by 6 to get an idea of what the piece is worth. This may be wrong but it's in line with shiny's estimate above.

    Close it's a 1/4 of the valuation

if that is the original ring box it looks like it was bought from michael hill jewellers - if that is the case they would have the document on the computer as i worked there at one time and anything priced over $150 you would get something to say how much it cost, diamond colour etc
