    BTW - Cockney slang for a sovereign was "Jimmy O'Goblin"

    Another fascinating find:

    In Victorian England the criminal slang for a spoon was "chatty feeder"

    If you stole the spoons from a house you "napped the feeders", or if you stole the silver spoons, you "napped the smash feeders"

    Australian slang for pre-decimal coins that I can remember ... well these terms were used in my area anyway. ;)

    Two Shilling (Floren) = 2 bob

    One Shilling = bob

    Six Pence = zack

    Three Pence = trey

    $20 note is a lobster.

    $50 note is a pineapple

    I guess a lot of people agree with that, here in Mexico the slang terms for many years were:
    Oro (gold) = Refer to Dollars or U.S. currency
    Plata (Silver) = Refer to Mexican pesos

    Took me first Rock N Roll Gregory Peck to the Tin Tank to get me some Bugs Bunny for the sky rocket, the teller was a bit of a Westpac Banker, off to the rubbity-dub for a pot of good cheer, a sway and swerve, come on down it's my Wally Grout, but make it quick I'm on me last Oxford scholar.

    But I also took me first Rock n to the Tin and got some Bees in me Sky, tellers were always right J Arthur,s ! got in me Kipper and hit the frog to the Rub way before the Currant went down and got a quite a few Pigs down me old Greg.
