I know Perth mint has this service but does anyone know anywhere in Sydney that sells blank fine silver coins/medallions for engraving? It's for a friend's wedding and I'm thinking this will be a unique gift. Or if anyone who lives near the Perth mint can help me out?

I was thinking of getting the 2oz or 5oz size so I could engrave a message...
Dang that forever love series would be good if only they came in a bigger size

Get some sand paper and blank your own.

We have a guy who mints commemorative medals and he just uses a round 50 cents, or punches out a crown, to get his blanks.

Try and avoid the engravers who also cut keys and mend shoes in shopping centres, looks like a monkey with Parkinsons. Better to take it to someone who engraves sports trophies as they have cool equipment. They might even have a CNC milling machine which will blank it for you.

Engraving will take metal off which then makes your item under weight - you need special engraving equipment that engraves but does not remove metal so that your item is a true weight when finished such as 1 oz 5 oz etc - if you don't care about the weight then use ordinary engravers.

We can do them in 1oz, no metal loss from engraving, 1oz bar or round.

    You have 1oz blanks?

Our local minter has to make his own.

+1 to knowing how much :)

We are in Victoria, to ship 1-4oz registered is $6.50.
Jislizard - Yes we have blanks we use for our own rounds.
All up by the time its been to the engraver and put in a presentation box around $65-$70 with GST included.
