Well. Stepping back to the domain of the stacker for a moment (once my eyes can focus again :D)

You gotta love a seller with the brass balls to label a fake 'rare' and sell twenty at once - just not so much. $10 margin on each, and the potential for downstream fraud is a hundred times as much.

Then we have the Perth Mint Sovs, which are new to me.

About the only good news is that there doesn't seem to be anything like the number of boxes and COAs available in Oz as in the UK, which seems to have a more substantial habit of stripping sets.

Everyone buy one of the cheapest coins and then leave negative feedback? It would only need say 10 negative feedback and I think there sales would plummet.
    Thoughts?

    Not at all.

You only have to look at the prices being paid for MCC's for evidence that copying or faking has little effect on demand.

There's no point getting upset at fakes, they are a natural (and in many cases welcome) part of any market.

I do not see fake (Anythings) as being a welcome part of any market. They are just muddying the market for anyone who might be looking for an AUTHENTIC investment..
How many of these pieces of crap will end up in the downstream market?

And I quote Midnight Oil..in the context of precious metals ,being from the earth...and because I like both the metal and the musical ethos :)

The Breakfast Creek Hotel is up for sale
The last square mile of terra firma gavelled in the mail
So farewell to the Norfolk Island pines
No amount of make believe can help this heart of mine

Is it ok to emote on SS,anymore?

And in a Libertarian society there would be a fair number of unwelcome fakes as well. ;)

    Caveat emptor.

Firstly we don't live in a libertarian society.

Secondly, the counterfeit bars and coins are designed to cheat and rob the less informed. I think the inactivity of the authorities is pathetic. As was mentioned before if these were $50 notes the AFP would be all over these bastards. The PM have a duty to protect their products and that so far has been found wanting. I am sure they ca contact the AFP and EBay and shut these account down.

I agree fakes have been part of history for 1000's of years but that does not mean we support them or condone illegal behavior.

Once they are out there, the lid is off. There is no going back, for better or worse :(

Atleast we are aware of this now!

Found another twist. Some fake bullion is being prominently advertised as NON-MAGNETIC. Sound's like these are being sold with the intention of being used in a scam.

    WOW!! How is this possible?

BTW: I found out how to easily search for these. You can enter search terms in the search box, for example:

For gold coins, paste this into the search box: coin (gold) ("100 mill","100 mills", "clad")
For gold and silver bullion bars, try: bullion (gold, silver) ("100 mill","100 mills", "clad")

Also fiddle with the sort order to view highest price ones, or most recently listed.

This has nothing to do with a Libertarian society.

I simply don't welcome your intrusion into the market by demanding that the authorities take action and ban the sale of fakes. If I want to buy a fake then I should be able to, without you interfering in my consumer choices.

Bring on copied DVD's, CD's, music, recipes, graphic designs, decorative colour schemes, fake wallets, fake sunglasses etc etc.

I suppose you'd be in favour of this sort of action by authorities:

There ya go, that's the authorities being active for you. Taxpayer funded police protecting the IP rights of private companies.

I can make my own purchasing decisions without a Nanny.

Why don't all of you write a letter to the editor of your local paper, you can sign it all "Deeply Concerned" or something.

Or maybe you can contact the ACCC? http://forums.silverstackers.com/message-721514.html#p721514 Bwahahaha, there's a bloke who loves to meddle in people's lives.

Yeah fakes should be readily available and people should be able to buy what they want.

Counterfeit Prescription Drugs made in back alleys do not seem dodgy at all to me....... I know if I could buy counterfeit heart medication for my elderly mother for half the price of a real medication I would give her the counterfeit medication. What could possibly go wrong with that?
