    I only just found out about this stone :rolleyes:
    After watching a doco on where it comes from. In Afghanastan
    I t was on SBS last week & they went up to the first Lapas mine in the world
    Mine number 1 has been going for over 6000 years :cool:
    And it's still producing Lapas :cool:
    I picked up a couple of pieces this morning :D

    Have always liked the look of the stuff. but the prices vary too much to get a decent gauge on (value vs eye catchyness)

    or I'v never seen a piece that i was willing to pay out for.

    Not expansive at all , these cost me $10 each
    I'll take some pics of what the guy is selling at Camberwell market

    Known ass Lapis Lazuli. Traces of Pyrite embed in the blue stone. :p

    Can be easily obtain in many stones/semi precious merchant markets.

    Nice Lapis - i have these two which are about 5cts or more each - inexpensive but very nice about $6 each.. Egypt made these famous.. the fouls gold in them look awesome!

    I have an exceptionally nice specimen which is NFS .. will load pics at a later date.. its small but very well cut with AAA colour

    Personally, there is too much rubbish around.... if you have seen genuine gem quality it blows your mind.

    I love it, the great stuff anyway.
