I only just found out about this stone After watching a doco on where it comes from. In Afghanastan I t was on SBS last week & they went up to the first Lapas mine in the world Mine number 1 has been going for over 6000 years And it's still producing Lapas I picked up a couple of pieces this morning The photo's don't do them justice
Have always liked the look of the stuff. but the prices vary too much to get a decent gauge on (value vs eye catchyness) or I'v never seen a piece that i was willing to pay out for.
Not expansive at all , these cost me $10 each I'll take some pics of what the guy is selling at Camberwell market
Known ass Lapis Lazuli. Traces of Pyrite embed in the blue stone. Can be easily obtain in many stones/semi precious merchant markets.
Nice Lapis - i have these two which are about 5cts or more each - inexpensive but very nice about $6 each.. Egypt made these famous.. the fouls gold in them look awesome! I have an exceptionally nice specimen which is NFS .. will load pics at a later date.. its small but very well cut with AAA colour
Personally, there is too much rubbish around.... if you have seen genuine gem quality it blows your mind. I love it, the great stuff anyway. Shiny.
