Anyone that frequents Silver Stackers going to be attending the Florida United Numismatics FUN show in Orlando next January? Wondering if we should try hosting a USA Silver Stackers meetup to coincide with the show now that I'm stateside.
Silver Stackers will have a booth at the show - anyone attending is welcome to pop by and say hello. Hopefully I get some time away from behind the desk to see what else is there.
Yep, got some 1oz Panda medallions A big welcome to all of the new members who have signed up at the show today.
Pleasant surprise to have a few existing members drop by and say hello! Condolences for Maggie were passed along from stateside from one member. We had a giveaway draw at the show for a 1/10oz XAU Incuse Indian gold round - congratulations to new member "holleyty" for winning.
Unfortunately not!!! Meant to take some on the Sunday but about half of the vendors did not attend that day, so it looked a bit barren. Very heavy on US coinage - I think there were something like 1500 dealers present, and I reckon about half of them seemed to specialise in Morgan dollars. I went hunting for hammered English pennies and groats, but couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger on a purchase. I need to learn more about them first. LOTS of very early US silver coinage in every grade. There was a Heritage auction - saw two "half dismes" (guess they weren't called nickels when they weren't yet made from nickel!) sell for $150,000 and $260,000 in the short time I watched. One sold for $1.41m the previous year at the same auction. Saw a 4oz Engelhard silver bar going for $2600 USD. Didn't sell.
