Can't believe it was that easy...... http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/rare-coin...rom-state-library-of-nsw-20140808-101xgi.html
I'm assuming it wasn't too difficult to break into if you can do it at 3.40 PM on a Wednesday afternoon in a public library.
Where the heck do you sell stuff like this? Its not like its a DVD player? Or should I not be asking?
I'm happy to but for $100 then ask of a reward for return On a serious note. This is ridiculous and proves no one can have anything nice. Nor have it on show, for the fear of a scumbag stealing it! In the end, there will be nothing on show.
Wow. You would think a million dollars worth of coin is worth a security guard or two. Or maybe a display box that cost more than a 100 bucks lol
State libraries could become fortresses where only the academics fear to tread..not openly accessible, user friendly, places of enquiry These artifacts are priceless heritage...PRICELESS...trust has been kicked hard again. Bugger!
Just melt it down and sell it for scrap Makes me think of this guy that stole the $550,000 gold bar from the museum http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/08/24/stealing.history/
Love the first comment: "Of course, the irony is that this gold bar was likely an Aztec figurine of some kind, which the Spaniards melted down because all they were interested in was the value of the gold itself."
This is really sad cause I used to take me kids there to see them occasionally.... Everytime.. all times... they asked me if those were real... I guess now they know.
