How much do you think proof 1 oz Lunar series 1 gold coins would be valued at? Any specific years more valuable than others?
The S1 Dragon cost me a hundred or so more than others. A few had significantly lower mintages, the Ox was one, worth more. Around 1700 maybe for the ones in less intense demand? At current bullion price, just guessing. dragafem was trying to sell a pig here not long back - found it .. http://forums.silverstackers.com/topic-55188-fs-gold-coins.html .. that would have been a good buy imo, pig didn't reach his full mintage. http://www.perthmint.com.au//docume...ion_Series_One_1996_-_2007_updated_221112.pdf
I believe that is true. By the looks of it, only just over a thousand of the 3-coin sets minted each year. But looks like these ones were split up
Saw a 1oz gold proof dragon on eBay for 2500 USD. Rather overpriced as people would want the 3-coin set and not buy them separately.
Yeah, that seems overpriced. I'd expect them to be somewhere between price of the bullion version and that? Do you think that would be close?
Hmm. Still think it wouldn't be a wise investment decision as collectors will be going for the complete 3-coin set. Feels odd just getting the 1oz proof on its own. Just my opinion!
Yeah I understand that view. But I think I'd much rather the proof version than the bullion version Just depends on the price difference I guess
You could try checking eBay for completed sales. Peter Strich is also selling the 1996 Rat and 1997 Ox 3-coin gold proof set for around 4500 AUD each. http://www.peterstrich.com.au/oz_coins/lunar_year/lunar_year.htm#gld_prf_price So you could try to gauge from that.
u wont get an s1 1oz proof close to bullion price double checked it.the 1oz proof only comes in the 3coin set in series1.
