Can anyone help. I have these 2 Perth Mint Medallions - 1 is and 1oz of Au and the other 1oz of Ag. They came in a Perth Mint box each with COA but no information on year of production or mintage.
Does anyone have information. On the other side of the medallion is the old Perth Mint Swan symbol and 1 troy oz of Au or Ag.

    Thanks :D

    Hi Bron
The link you posted has a slightly different medal
If you look at Perth Mint buildings it says 90 years
The one I have does not ?

This is the one on Bron's link

    Thanks

The silver medallion looks like The Perth Mint Centenary Medallion from 1999.
The silver medallions have a mintage of 5000 with each coa numbered.

But I think the same medallion has been issued on its own before and also have seen several types with different headings on the building side.

The gold one is the same but also has been issued on its own before (wouldn't have a clue on mintage) also seen 2 different types with the whole building side replaced with mining company logos.

Thanks Franko - The COA I have are not numbered. I will get to the bottom of this and will post an answer when I get it.
The person I know who is an expert on all WA numismatics and the PM is away on holiday so will get his opinion when he gets back
    Thanks again

This is my Centenary Medallion and as you can see it says "Centenary on the front and it's coloured so it's not one of them.

Bugger just realised my coa's have been mis matched just opened up the same coin box and found the coa for the Bankwest Centenary medallion with it.

Will be going though some boxes later to sort it out.

I now think Ronnies coin is actually late 80s early 90s just trying to find a swimming medallion with its box has the date on it, 1992 I think.

OK so the design seems to be a standard design reused for anniversaries. If it is not the 90th then I'd guess it is the 75th but difficult to confirm as that is way back too far and any records would be buried in archive.

I think your best bet is Andrew Crellin on Sterling Currency and Coin in Fremantle.

Spoke to Andrew and he is not sure - but thinks they were sold in the 1980's as medallions. They are rarely seen these days. He does not know the mintage or other details. I will speak to the president of the Australian Numismatic Society who is an expert on all WA coins and medallions. He is currently overseas but I will get him to look at these on his return and will report back to this posting. By the way George Walter Williams was in charge of the Perth Mint from 24/02/1984 to 04/07/1986. So these were produced between 1984-1986. Thanks Chip

Chip managed to locate where about Mr & Mrs. G W Williams through another member.
May conduct an interview sometimes next week if permission is granted.
What would you ask and would like to know?

You may pmd Chip or ask in this thread hopefully Ronnie don't mind.

Trying to share a piece of historical moment. Thanks in advance.

Apparently, G W Williams worked with the Perth Mint until retired.

Mr G W Williams may hold the key to the Perth Mint Vintage bars.
If you have any question or wanting to know here is a chance.
Chip trying to negotiate an interview with this key person.
    So pmd Chip with questions.
Apparently, Mr Williams have work 60 years with the mint.
Lately when I ask the mint no one seem to know him.

Hopefully permission is granted to meet such important person.
